@Ticomaya,
Quote:They pick out the star players at age 8, evidently, then train them until they become star professional players, then sell them off to the highest bidder. Repeat.
It began in earnest Tico with Russian and Eastern bloc countries trying to win Olympic medals in gymnastics. They did much more than train them. It is really too disgusting to talk about.
Money doesn't talk--it swears. I knew an Olympic hopeful javelin thrower. If greyhound owners did to their racing dogs what he did to himself they would get arrested. If people knew what goes on behind the scenes with these "athletes" I think they might turn sport off. I've read that the bucking bronco competitions use various devices to maximise the bucking.
@spendius,
actually, most rodeo animals have a pretty good life. without them there is no rodeo, just bowlegged dudes in funny hats...
and they breed them to be wild and dangerous.
you're thinking a ball strap, or what...?
@Rockhead,
Not thinking Rockie. I read it. Electrified and spikey.

That's Janatone, the innkeeper's daughter.
@spendius,
It's one of the masterpieces your English Literature teachers buried out in the hills.
Look out kid--they keep it all hid.

Let's try to do better this week. 14 games, 9 of which will be "early" games as the NFL competes with the baseball playoffs. Perhaps the extra info re records and PF vs PA will be added later.

@Ticomaya,
oh! Thanks for clarifrying that.
Gonna be some fun games today.
I can't wait for Jets v Vikings!
10/10/10 as Week 5 starts with only Cyclo missing as of 10 am.
We are unanimous in picking Cincy over Tampa Bay and San Diego versus Oakland. Only Jespah has Denver against Baltimore while Tico alone has Arizona beating New Orleans.
Lmur and Fbaezer think Cleveland will top Atlanta.
We are split 14-9 in 3 games, choosing St Louis over Detroit, Philly over SF and the Jets against Minnesota. We divide 13-10 while choosing Chicago over Carolina.
EhBeth agrees with the majority on every game while Osso, Edgar and Liontamerx are off by just one. At the other extreme, but not extremely extreme, is Jespah. She differs from the majority on 5 games.
By the way, apropos to nothing, a new hotel opened in Las Vegas which has a bit of design flaw. At a certain time of day the sun's rays reflect down on the pool area, melting plastic cups and setting people's hair on fire. How cool is that?
@realjohnboy,

Last time I was in Vegas, I could easily see that happening.
@realjohnboy,
Re the hotel, egads and little fishes! I wonder what they'll do to remedy that.
