Nobody call me at 11:40am today, okay?

@chai2,
Yes, I see what you're saying, but I did express all that during, and at the conclusion of the interview as we were shaking hands, etc.

I guess it seems a bit redundant to me, and maybe an intrusion? It feels like I would be "bothering" them.

Besides, what if my email arrives after they've already made their decision? It was hinted at that the person would be chosen at any time this week, probably by Friday.

@Reyn,
ok, that's good you expressed your desire, expecially right at the end.

Still, a quick, 2 sentence email, saying "Thanks for taking the time for seeing me" definately wouldn't be a bother.

I receive emails like that on a regular basis, and I consider it very polite.

@chai2,
I write thank yous all the time. I know that few people do. If that's a differentiator then I'm all for it -- it's free, it's easy and it takes me next to no time. If I can increase my odds for getting the job by, I dunno, 5%, then I will do it. Don't know if it's quantifiable in any way but I doubt anyone would consider a thank you to be an intrusion (and yes I've been on the hiring end).

@jespah,
Okay chai and jes, you convinced me.

Just now I sent this:

"Hello ******,

Just a quick 'thank you' for taking the time to interview me today for the junior inspector position. It was much appreciated. It felt good to be one of the ten people picked from 150.

Thanks again,
*******"

Look okay?

It's currently 11:53 am here. If I'm going to get a call, they're sure leaving it last minute.

My gut tells me, "Sorry, it's another 'no'".

I've just a few minutes ago sent in 2 resumes. One to our local hospital (very close by) for a food service worker, and two, to our local Home Depot for a parking lot attendant.

I've learned now you've got to keep stuff going...

@Reyn,
That is very smart of you to keep up the job search until it's signed on the dotted line.

@chai2,
Yeah, there was a time where I didn't do that - just apply for one job at a time. My wife thought that was a mistake in this current job climate that we're in. So, I changed my approach.

Just signed myself up to a 3rd one today, for stocking at a local drug store chain.

I try to keep my spirits up.

It's now nearly 3:15 pm here. I think I'll have to accept that the egg job is gone.

Keep plodding along Reyn it takes time, I never get the first lot of jobs I go for but something will turn up, it always does. Best of luck.

@Caroline,
Laughing I've been at this since April 2009, basicly.

I'm not getting any younger in the process. Wink

@Reyn,
It can be a long process but I understand if you feel disheartened. Are you going for jobs that are right for you or are you going for anything that's going?
