@Intrepid,
Who's program is the Excel one? Not Microsoft, I take it?

When they call, just make sure you know which did in fact come first, the chicken or the egg. That'll probably be the first thing they ask.

So why did the chicken cross the road?

It was too long to walk around.

Reyn.
The answer, btw, is the chicken.

@Intrepid,
I've been looking at the spreadsheet on my computer here, refreshing my memory, and it doesn't look that hard.

Navigation looks pretty straightforward. I'm sure I will be using existing pages, not creating new ones anyway.

Probably if I'm familiar with a spreadsheet setup, and can navigate it, I'll be okay (I hope).

Edit:

Thanks for that!

So, is Excel a more detailed program?

@Reyn,
I'm sure it will. They indicate they want experience with input. You can type and you know your numbers. You will do just fine. Wink

The job is for a Junior Egg Inspector... I highly doubt they will want you to program Excel spreadsheets.

@Intrepid,
Yeah, I was talking about it with my wife this morning, and potentially ( I say this with a lot of caution), this could be okay for us.

Just enough hours and pay to extend my pension, and be able to do the job as I get older.

-----

I'll come back this afternoon and let you guys know how it worked out. Wink

@Intrepid,
Hi everybody! Well, I thought the interview went quite well. The HR person was calling from Winnipeg (where head office is, I guess) all the way to BC. She seemed to be pleased with my responses.

In-person interviews (which I will get) are being set up probably for august 17th - time to follow with another phone call /email.

The hours of the shifts are much what I had figured. The 2 shifts per week will run anywhere from 10 to 12 hours (starting at $16 /hr). The start of the shift will probably be around 5 am. It's a bit early, but if offered the job, I'm going to take it. It's only for 2 shifts a week and they probably won't be concurrent.

But no heavy lifting! Wink

By the way, the data entry wasn't even an issue for them. Lots of training available.

@CalamityJane,
They are translucent, so you can hold them up to the light and check for defects. Hence the expression that someone needs to have his head candled.

@Izzie,
Laughing Laughing

I hadn't realized that the company was run by women. Doesn't matter to me.

In my second-to-last job, everyone was female, except the head cook. All was fine.

Discussed the early hours with my wife and she said we should go for it. Opportunities don't come by very often. As I mentioned earlier, I had applied for this job (different hours) back in 2006.

Now all that has to happen is to be offered the job. Laughing

---------

By the way, I hadn't mentioned this, but I also currently have a resume in to work in our local prison kitchen. That job closes Aug 9th.

Think I would prefer the egg inspector job. Wink
