I'm afraid it didn't go well for me. I'm embarrassed to have to say that I had to tell my supervisor that the work wasn't working out for me.
I'm not afraid of hard work, but there were way too many heavy items like fridges, air conditioning units, etc, to move and lift. So, after 6 hours, I had to pack it in.
I could see that it was a wonderful company to work for, fair and friendly folks, but I honestly could see that it wasn't going to work out. I told my boss that I had to be honest and he appreciated that.
I did have a minor accident in the morning. I lost my balance while on a bit of a rickety ladder, pulling down a heavyish box from an upper rack and fell. I was grateful I didn't do myself an injury.
To top it all off, the bloody steel toe boots I had, where doing a rotten number on my feet. Oh, I hated them, and have sores to prove it.
Oh well, I've learned a lesson not to apply for similar jobs like this. It's just a bit embarrassing as to how it all worked out.
I really would like a job that I can continue doing as I get older. I just made a bad choice with this one.
I still have an outstanding resume on a full time dishwashing job for a major extended care home here. I think I can be a strong contender on this one, as I have had previous experience in another home.
Thanks to all who wished me well in this thread. I feel a little awkward. It was hard explaining it to my wife, but she was very understanding and supportive.
