Vasoline facebook application turns brown skin into "visibly fairer" skin.

Vaseline, and their parent company Unilever, market skin creams that make brown skin less brown. To market this, they rolled out a facebook application. You can upload a picture with your not so fair skin, and it will make you look... well... less brown.

And here I thought that there was nothing useful on Facebook.

BTW.... did you hear about the couple that got confused between Vaseline and window putty?

@ebrown p,
Sounds like an attempt to get around a Facebook user's privacy settings by luring them into uploading a photo for the company to access in their advertisements.

The always disreputable Simon raven told a story about an Oxford don, Maurice Bowra, who used to invite the prettier male students to share his bed. During one such tryst, in the dark, he reached beneath the bed for what he imagined was a tin of vaseline. The next morning he and the student independently discovered that it was in fact boot polish.

@contrex,
This is not a thread about darkening skin.

I don't quite understand why you thought that I imagined that it was.

What is the point of this thread? I am not really interested in all the melanin wealthy people in the world. My melanin cells are either suffering from some sort of sleeping sickness, or they died off somewhere on the Steppes of Russia centuries ago. Nothing to talk about. So what if some people naturally look like a plucked chicken (due to a paucity of melanin cells).

@Foofie,
You definitely have missed it. You might want to reread ebrown's original post again.

@Foofie,
You really should change your moniker to Clueless.

Does that fall under the heading of "constructive criticism"? I would not think so, since I am not being told how to become "cluefull." Or, is "clueless" the best to which I can aspire?

@ABE5177,
ABE5177, have you met Foofie and Pamela Rose? You all seem to have a lot in common.

@snood,
David can correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the feeling he means fair as in "fairplay".

ABE what the hell is your first language? It sure as heck isn't english. Please, if you must attempt to insult me, do it with correct grammar and spelling.

@Green Witch,
Hey GreenWitch.

Please don't drag non-native speakers of English into this. Some of them are brilliant and reasonable. They don't deserve to be linked with with Abe.
