Hi All (except excludees)!
Why indeed?
We are the ones you should thank for your easy existences, so why is it you never show your gratitude?
Have a brilliant everything always All (except Dlowan, Electronic Mail, Reyn, Rockhead, pepijn Sweep, and Tico (chosen excludees))!
Mark...
Where do you get this stuff? We, meaning all of us, not just of British ancestry, built this country by ourselves. Well, we had a little help. But not British help. Plus, we saved your butts during the war.
@edgarblythe,
Hi Edgar!
YOU weren't in the war!
We drove out the romans (from Britain), otherwise you'd have never been born.
I'm only asking for, long overdue, recognition.
If you don't want to thank us - Why?
Kind regards!
Mark...
@edgarblythe,
we shaved their butts?
oops, put glasses on. nevermind...

And YOU didn't drive the Romans out.

Thank you for what? Your overactive imagination?
By the way mark, I don't believe you were part of any group that drove out the romans. "YOU weren't in the war!" to quote someone else.
@Mame,
Hi Mame!
Yes I did, but not the actual romans.

.... because they were vilified as the "bad guys" to overcome towards independence. Kinda sad, really; and although I have very little British lineage in my bloodline I'm still quite fond of the close connection we enjoy. Well, the connection *some* of us enjoy.
Historically, any time a colony, state(s), island or enclave tries to break off from its current authority there is resistance - generally armed, messy resistance. One can hardly blame the Brits for not wanting to lose the colonies.
In any case, I'd like to think this is so far in the past - so far removed (chronologically) - that it no longer plays any part. Culturally we share a ton of similarities. In a world so bereft of relationships that are given much worth, I'd like to think this one endures.
... but hey, who am I?
The Anglo-Saxon tribes still lived in NW Germany in those days; the Roman withdrew their legions to France to fight.
I have some British heritage from the Routh side of my family. Doesn't mean squat. The Dutch, Irish and Native American parts outnumber the British side.
@edgarblythe,
Hi Edgar!
More brits, all of them! Check the history books.
All this because you didn't want to pay for decent tea, we had the kindness to sail accross the atlantic for you.
How selfish is that?
Kind regards!
Mark...
I saw a commercial on TV this past week. The British red coats are alerted that George Washington and his army are approaching. As they fall into shooting formation, a tense scene developes. Suddenly a row of Dodge Challenger cars charge the British. George Washington at the wheel, grimly smiling. The British are routed. Washington poses next to his car.
@edgarblythe,
Hi Edgar!
Now you're just being silly.
Kindest of regards!
Mark...
I believe all Americans owe the Brits a bit of gratitude. Why? I guess I can not answer that question.
@gustavratzenhofer,
Are there any questions you can answer?
@gustavratzenhofer,
I believe we owe the bits a Brit of gratitude. I volunteer mark noble.
@gustavratzenhofer,
Hi Gushfjdklrelr;lgmbopeef93jrl!
I accept!
Kind regards!

@edgarblythe,
Edgar, have you been here the whole time?
