The Rules for Euro 2004 are the same as those used in England in 1996 and Belgium/Holland in 2000:

if teams are tied on points at the end of the group stage, the teams are separated in the following manner - #1 being the first deciding criteria and #8 the last.

1. The highest number of points won Head to Head.
2. Goal difference between the teams.
3. The highest number of goals scored Head to Head.
4. Overall goal difference.
5. The best attack.
6. The team with the highest UEFA co-efficient - calculated on the results of matches in World Cup 2002 qualifying and Euro 2004 qualifying.
7. The team's ranking in the Fair Play indice.
8. A Ballot.

So, there are still options 7 and 8 to be considered as well

Well, this penalty will be discussed - but: professionals shouldn't act such in the penalty area: Italy-Bulgaria 0:1

I thought only the Germans practised Cumberland wrestling (or should that be Graeco-Roman wrestling) by the defenders in the penalty area.

Mrs Steve shouts from bathroom that Italy have equalised. Such drama.

I don't think they will literally let them win, but they certainly will field a second team. This second team will try to win as much as they can, but...

Yes, he will play.

Sorry - but no answer just now to Mrs. Steve: switching between two tv programs, discussion football strategies with Mrs. Walter and writing English on the computer is nearly already beyond my possibilities

This match definately wasn't cheated, although Denmark-Sweden 2:2

Poor performance by the Italians (just shot their second goal = 2:1)

At the end, it was fair, and I'm truly happy it went that way.
Italy was too meager during the tournament to deserve different luck.

Walter, I don't want to be mean, but this "perfect" result in Denmark-Sweden is waaaaay different to another "perfect" result: Austria - Germany BR in 1982.

Actually, I remember exactly.

Schumacher and Patrick Battiston was another "highlight", as well as our result vs Albania.

You are wrong, MOU - my family lives since 1287 around here

Totti was just as bad against a Danish player (who was lucky his foot wasn't on the ground, or his career would be over), and wasn't even given a yellow card.
Zambrotta made today a criminal tackle and the referee didn't even look.

Walter - I know that, but I thought that back at 1982 you were not living in BRD, but in DDR. I don't know where I got it.

fbaezer - Both Algeria and Albania. 1982 game you are talking about is against Algeria, but I believe Walter just mentioned biggest stories of german football, and once they were eliminated from final tournament (I think European championship) because of draw with Albania. Which is weak now, and was even more weaker then.

Albania and Algeria used (and use) to be our "strongest combatants".
