thanks fbaezer - no, i don't think UEFA has a paying game, but their Champions league games were very poor, so I haven't even checked this one Smile

tip for players: as Switzerland supposed to be one of the countries with worst attack and there are 40(!) transfers allowed, someone can get the idea to use croatian goalkeeper in first round - DON'T! Our first goalie is injured and very doubtfull, and his replacement is not always in best mood

I was tempted for a moment to include Platikosa (sp?), but decided for Cech.

My son sayd Brso won't play, so I included Ivica Olic instead.
Is he right?

I have Cech too Wink
Prso (not Brso) will play as far as I know - he had minor problems but I think he is playing.
Pletikosa is still doubtfull, and Juventus' Igor Tudor is not playing first game due to red card in qualifying game with Slovenia.

By the way, if you haven't made too much transfers so far, I would suggest Sokota instead of Olic - Prso, Sokota should be starters in forward, and even if Prso is not playing I belive Sokota will have better tournament then Olic - he plays in Portugal last few years, very popular there and I think he might be in great mood. And, especially against Switzerland he could be great. Against France we will not score at all so for this round put some non-Croats in team Smile

Portugal sure seemed weak... the Spanish didn't impress me much either... seems to me like they lack some team spirit

I am a Chinese football fan.The exciting Euro football games cannot deny my very enthusiasm and I stayed up until 12 at midnight in order to watch the ceremony and the first game Portugal vs Greece.
But I think most of the fans have the same feeling with me.So disappointed.Portugal lost the first game and I don't have enough confidence to predict whether it can play better next few games.Hope it can.
Tonight, for every fans,is a football festival, because the "battle"between France and England will start.
I hope France will go.
I will watch it and witness whether my foresee will come true or not.

Oh,my God!
Zidane is the Eternal,he created the miracle. He reversed the game result; joyed the French and edged the English.
We love him in that he gave us an exciting and great game.
And my prediction has realized tonight at last 3 minutes of the game against England.
Up till now I cannot believe what has happened.

Can I just do a bit of advertising here for the game I've started? It's called the Euro2004 Prediction Game. Basically, you score points for predicting the results (not exact scores) of each match, and the person with the most points after the final has been played will be the winner. You can change your mind as many times as you like up to 1hr before the game starts. Have fun!

Grand Duke, remember what I said, in another thread, about why I love to hate the English football team?

They proved that France is not the better side.
But they got Beckham and France got Zidane.
Beckham is like a paper baloon. He breaks into pieces at the decisive moments, when tension is too much.
Becks vs. Zizou. Bad vibes vs. good vibes.

----

MOU

I'm really sorry to say this, but Croatia, at least against Switzerland, looked like a pale, diffuminated bad copy of Croatia.
I still do sympathise with the team, but my expectations have been drastically lowered.

----

Portugal looked like a sharp copy of Portugal... in the 2002 World Cup.
All Greece had to do is to be orderly. It didn't impress me, either.

Spain was obviously superior to Russia. But, as usual, they have so much trouble scoring.

----

Now Italy is playing Denmark, and I'm at the office. Waaaaaah!

fbaezer, you don't have to be sorry, I think same Smile
They sucked.
What upsets me is that they are not actually THAT terrible - I mean, few days against Euro they played friendly against Denmark, won 2-1 and played excellent game.
I said myself that they are far from WC'98 generation and that I don't think they can do anything spectacular here, but this against Switzerland was below all limits. Without offense to Swiss team of course. But we played terribly.

Maybe it's a bit because of the weather (although, of course, weather was bigger problem for Swiss), because if you think about it - of three games played in afternoon so far (in terribly hot weather), only Greece played really good. Croatia, Portugal and Switzerland were terrible, and Italy and Denmark just tiny bit better then terrible.

Thanks for the link, Walter.
I somehow messed up, asked for Real Player (which I have at home, not at the office), got no images, and couldn't go back to Windows media.

Sweden yesterday reminded me of Denmark '86. Smile

BTW, it has been statistically proven that Swedes engage more in sexual activity every time their football team wins.

I wonder how hot was the night in Stockholm, yesterday.

I was worried... all my fantasy teams would have gone to pieces.

From what I saw, the Latvians were lucky.
