nimh, can you tell us where is Seedorf?
All we saw was a ghost.

Seedorf has personality problems. Him and Davids. Cant tell what they'll do.

But yeah, he played lousy.

There wasnt really one that stood out, on our side that is, do you think?

Overmars did OK, I think. Just not effective.

Hey magnum, welcome to a2k by the way. I dont think I ever said hi yet. Rotterdam, huh? Respect. Tough town, that.

It started raining now. How fitting. It can sweep away all the flags and decorations and dreams tonight ...

AAAARRRRGGHHHH!!!! Just got back from a birthday party (where we watched "the" game of course). The referee surely was against us, no doubt (don't even try it Steve; that also accounts for you Walter...)

As my 6-year old cousin summarized it: 'Is he blind?!'

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

About the referee:

Not to spoil the whining, but he pardoned a red card to Overmars.

by the way, ref was okay, ref that is against Netherlands would never give that foul in last minute on 17 meters...it was not clear foul....

Perhaps, you like to comment on this "auxiliary theater of war", too:

one can't really comment on that Walter. I mean, if that ref really made terribly mistake against England it would still be completely retarded.

Especially when he actually made correct call. What pisses me off most are comments that this tackle would never be called in Premiership. Who the f*** cares? Football has its rules, and if you want to allow some things in your national championship then do it. But don't expect other refs to close their eyes on clear fouls.

And it was CLEAR FOUL.

But, England was known as bad loser, Netherlands surprised me. Now ref is "guilty" for them too. Fact that they had no chances during the match and if it wasn't for own goal they wouldn't have scored at all is probably not important Very Happy

And now, something completely different (Dutch jokes are more then welcome):

Quote:

Q: What's the difference between the England team and a tea-bag?
A: The tea-bag stays in the cup longer

Q: What is common between a 3-pin plug and the England football team?
A: They are both useless in Europe!

Q. What's the difference between the English and a jet engine?
A. A jet engine eventually stops whining.

Some people are immune to all of this. The paper reported today that two of the country's newspapers, the Dutch Daily and the Reformed Daily, did not report on any soccer unless it was to do with side-effects on general social issues. These are the newspapers of the Bible Belt, where everyone votes Christian Union or State Reformed Party, where all the girls wear long skirts to the ankles, and where there are no professional soccer clubs, because those play on Sundays and Sunday is the day of the Lord. "Christians", the article reported, "do not indulge in sports infatuation".

Clearly the Dutch don't take it seriously enough, and consequently lost. We on the other hand are obsessed with football and lost anyway. There is a lesson here but I'm not sure what. Perhaps the Church of England could sponsor a Christian football team.
