The only thing I see as stupid is your assumption here. My avatar says islam sucks, because I think...islam sucks. And that's pretty much the meat of it, no secret hidden meanings, I have another one that says religion sucks, if you haven't noticed, I change them out every so otfen. But, since Iraqis are all alllowed to have one machine gun and ammo for it, I even personally gave some their guns, they do in fact have the right to defend themselves. Most of my objection to the war in Iraq is that Iraq was falsely invaded and locals that did EXACTLY what good Americans would do if invaded are painted as AQ supporters and enemy combatants. Do you see how stupid your assumption is?

Yes I do...and I apologize for misconstruing your intentions...I stand corrected. And I wholeheartedly agree with your assertion.

You think all that big brother crap is bad now? Look at Britian, they took away their guns, and now their whole lives are under CCTV cameras. AND they have a skyrocketing violent crime rate. Look at the gangbangers in Canada that murdered that little boy, and post videos on YouTube showing off all their guns, which...are illegal in Canada. And, lets look at the Branch Davidian compound. Yes, they all died in the end, but how long did they hold the AFT off? The reason people didn't care to help them is because they were painted as freaks. Ask Ed and Elaine Brown if they are going to let the government come in and carry them off to jail?

What are you going to do when the **** hits the fan? People in NO know, and there were nieghborhood groups that keep rovering bands of criminals out because no police were anywhere. On the same token there were areas where the police, military, and Blackwater broke many citizen constitutional rights and forcibly took their firearms, that would be the 2nd, and 4th amendments.

One of my friends, the drummer for my old band, he lived in Montrose, and was gayer than a bundle of sticks, he carried a gun, why? Because he was assaulted quite a few times, being beat up because he was gay. Guess what, when he got his gun, he didn't gey fagbashed again.

FACT guns save many, many, many lives each year. FACT guns do NOT make people commit crimes, Criminals that are going to commit crimes..guess what...they DO NOT LISTEN TO GUN LAWS!!!!!!

You make a compelling point.

The liberal democrat mind is a curious thing, see, maybe you can explain it, if we make guns illegal for LAW-ABIDING citizens, HOW is that going to stop criminals that do NOT obey the law? Do you think that just making guns illegal is going to just, make them dissappear?

Well, I was kinda hoping....

Oh yea, more people are killed by cars than guns, where's your outrage, and movement to ban cars?

Hmmmm, you had to go there, didn't ya? LOL

Sometimes you have to use an extreme example to get the point across.

@Freeman15,
i've said it before and i'll say it again.

if you are anti-gun, i encourage you to go take an NRA safety course to learn about them, hold them, and if your host has ability, to shoot them.

i don't own a gun.... yet. but i do have all the paper work i need to get my concealed carry pistol permit here in the state. i will most likely be putting the paper work through after i move (THURSDAY!!) and settle in.

just becuse i CAN doesn't mean i have to own one, or even ever fire a weapon again.

but, should the need ever arise, and i have access to a gun, i can legally use it for a legal defensive situation.

this happened a couple towns over from me about a month ago.
a doctor's home got raided by 2 criminals, and they ended up killing his wife and 2 daughters, and thought they beat him to death before they burned his house down. but, he ended up getting out of the house and survived.
if he had a gun, his wife and daughters might still be alive today.

@Freeman15,
They probably would be alive. We had a home invasion here, where the intruder tied up a mother and son, then robbed their house. They got loose and the kid got his fathers gun, the intruder came back to kill them, and the kid shot him the face. BooYa

@aaronssongs,
The founders didn't provide us with the Amendment II to shoot bad guys (though it is a wonderful accident). We have the right to keep and BEAR arms so that if our government becomes tyrannical, we'll have the means to overthrow them and install a new government. This is why I reject assault weapons bans and all gun-control as unconstitutional. You wouldn't fight a sword with a stick so why would you fight an assault weapon with a deer rifle?*

*Deer rifles, namely the Remington 700 line still own. Freeman apologizes for any offense he might have caused to Americans in possession of bolt-action weaponry.

@Freeman15,
i'm still on the fence about assult riffles. i've said it before... the only real NEED to own one is to kill people.

you don't go hunting with one....
and chances are, you shouldn't be using one for home protection either.

but, i can see the WANT for people have them.

Again, the Second Amendment wasn't meant to protect us from petty criminals, it was designed to give us the ability to overthrow the government. Soldier with M249 belt-fed SAW, or farmer with a double-barrel, who wins? Civilians should have access to all military hardware they choose to buy, the only restriction being NBC weapons without appropriate housing.

@Freeman15,
I'm just against guns, period. For the bad guys and the good guys. How can we talk about nuclear proliferation and the need to reduce it, while having a arsenal of assault weapons in the basement, for the possibility that you might need it, one fine day. Fear begats more fear. Mistrust begats more distrust. Then all is left is chaos and anarchy.
People need to grow up and out of their childhood fantasies of "cops and robbers" and "playing soldiers and war", and start acting like adults. Why are weapons considered "adult toys"? The psychological implications are stark and undeniable. We are "messed up". The world is "messed up".....yet, we've got to find a way to fix it, before it doesn't matter anymore.

I do not disagree with you. But, if someone breaks into my home with the intention of doing me or mine harm, I will shoot them before they do me in. I mention this because I live in a high end new home community, which has been targeted by a band of gang thieves. Since our security gates are not yet in operation and the community is only partially occupied, we are big and easy targets. Two of the home owners on my street of only 7 homes have been burglarized in broad daylight - lost everything from HDTVs to Porsches. Worst, they have killed pet dogs that barked when the entered. If they show at my house, I will definitely protect my property and family.

No matter how true that may be, the constitution specifically grants the right of Americans to own weapons. This is not done for people to hunt, but so that Americans can defend themselves from home intruders, foreign armies, and even our own government if the need be.
