@tumbleweed cv,
History is repeating itself. Woodrow Wilson, who like Bush, tried to democratize the world, lost the midterm elections of 1918 just like
Bush now.

Now, as then, the Americans are tired of trying to run the world!

... and a few decades later we had to deal with Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy
and Imperial Japan.

Wilson's theory was sound, as the basic neo-con theory is based in something
sound: when people have liberty and opportunity they practice democracy in
order to preserve what they have. In execution, they muddled the order of
things.

We have to attempt to export democracy and liberty, just not with bombs.

If we don't help improve the lives of the vast numbers of people who live
in horrible circumstances we will not be safe, for they are easy tools for
the agendas of madmen and religious fanatics.

So how much American blood must be spilled to achieve what you want?
If we had stayed out of World War I, it would have most likely ended in
a stalemate and possibly no World War II or all of the senseless wars
that have followed.

We should heed George Washington's Farewell Address!
