Oh, them there rubbers. Those you wear over a pair of Sunday go to meeting type foot ware. Do they even exist anymore? Nobody worries about their shoes getting wet anymore, do they?

DOH!

I'd forgotten that!

Man, that takes me back to Yankee Land.

I'll bet you say "chop meat" instead of hamburger. You do, don't you?

I'm going down to the Shop Rite to pick up a pound of lean chop meat and a dozen crullers.

Maybe a nice jewish rye.

Chopped liver, yes. So good. Chopped meat. Wha?
Maybe some White Fish.

A scooped onion bagel with a schmear of veggie cream cheese.

Crullers. Meh.

Nope, not chopped meat. Ground beef.

Haven't eaten a cruller in decades. What else would you call it?

I had no idea that breads were religious. To me rye is rye. Actually it's not that simple. Rye is either seeded or unseeded.

Hey, Joe, Gimme sprinkles on dat sugar cone.

@dlowan,
A purse is a little thing with a clasp on top. If it doesn't have the clasp, then it's a wallet.

No....if you Google "chop meat" you'll still find plenty of examples where that term is used instead of say hamburger, or ground round, ground meat, etc.

@chai2,
When I was a little Roberta, my mother always referred to chopped meat when she was talking about hamburger. I never heard the expression chop meat, although I don't doubt that it was used.

I'm aware that many places and food companies refer to rye bread as Jewish rye. Until I saw this written on a package, it was just plain old rye bread to me, and that's what it still is.

@chai2,
I prefer seedless rye too. Dem seeds get stuck in your teeth.

I'm remembering the time I was on a business trip and saw New York steak on the menu. Never heard of it, and me a native New Yorker. I discussed it with the waiter. Aha! A shell steak.
