I used to belong there, the place drove me crazy because the pages would load so slowly. Maybe it's better now.

@Aedes,
My old but serviceable computer (built 2003, has 768MB RAM, AMD Athlon XP 1466.71 MHz), running Firefox 2.0.0.20 under Windows 98SE (I'm trying to get around to installing Linux, no more Billyware for me) slows to a crawl (it takes minutes to type a few words) when I try to access any thread at http://www.galilean-library.org/.

PS: anyone using Firefox can easily add the BBCodeXtra add-on.

Hey jgweed, I finally got around to searching for this add-on you speak of. Did the search for BBCodeXtra and then BBCode. Firefox didn't find anything for either of them. Can you give some more detail on how to find it? I'd like to take a look at it.

@Butrflynet,
Nevermind, I found it.

Wow, this is cool. I love the custom tag option. That alone will save me a lot of typing of the youtube tags.

Thanks!

@ehBeth,
I'm a Firefox noob too, ehBeth! (I'm still trying to figure out how to use Twitter. Embarrassed Tried to send a private tweet to Robert today and couldn't find an obvious way to do it with the onscreen menus. Didn't have time to go searching for beginner tutorials.)

Here's a link to the BBCode thingy:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/491/

When it is installed, you can add customized tags to it. To use it, you just right-click in an editing field such as a post form and it gives you selections to choose from. I'm still adjusting some of it to mimic the exact codes we use here.

@Butrflynet,
thank you - I'll follow the link

I did finally manage to figure out (probably by going through a maze rather than following a straight line) where the greasemonkey add-on was that took out all of the FB recommendations and almost all of the ads - there is hope!

Just a quick search on google for "philosophy forum" came up with these sites (besides the one we used to be part of):

www.philosophychatforum.com
http://onlinephilosophyclub.com/forums/
http://www.ilovephilosophy.com/

Let me know if anyone has had any experience with these sites, and which, if any, most of the folks are going to run to.

Eh, who is chasing you? You have created this story that you are refugees out of whole cloth. Could you explain exactly what you are running from? Lots of paranoia, not much substance.
