I'm like that with a bunch of folk too.

I am thinking right now of a number of the NY taxi drivers....had some great conversations with them. There was the Indian guy who was ecstatic because India had just beaten Australia by one run in the latest Test match. He was incredulous when I said I was glad India had won...and then we got into a great conversation about the Commonwealth Games, Pakistan and India, Indian folk in Oz and all.

NY taxi drivers is da best. Yesterday my driver from Peru taught me how something to say in Portuguese for my doctor from Brazil. Love dis city.

Not at all surprised that Miranda shouted on the phone. I don't care how well her keepers are keeping her, they ain't you. She misses her Deb.

As a practical matter, it is a fact that the Brazilians don 't speak Portugese; thay speak Brazilian.

This became manifest, on-the-job in court in the 1980s,
when I hired a Portugese translator for a lot of Brazilians.
He coud NOT do the job. We had to adjourn.
He was from Portugal. He coud not understand them.

uh, deb, didn't you just come through the Denver airport? What exactly was it that you were doing there?

@Roberta,
Da Miranda has landed! Collected her yesterday afternoon.

I got ignored when I appeared to pick her up, but she has settled back in as though nothing ever happened.

She looks great.

@Roberta,
First time I left the Pacc for a week, I got the Big Chill on arrival to pick him up. That showed me!! Took about a half hour for that to go away. Thank goodness.

Deb, glad you got Miranda and that you both can settle in a bit. Hope you can catch up on sleep and recover from so many experiences. Then, as Soz said, you can catch the memories as they surface.

@tsarstepan,
You'll administer the daily pills then?

Mind you, I don't think she'd fancy the six months in the quarantine station upon her return.

@OmSigDAVID,
We do.

We don't have a whole passel of diseases you guys and Europe etc have...eg rabies, foot and mouth, countless bugs and crop eating critters. Animals coming into or returning to the country have to stay in quarantine for quite a long time.

@dlowan,
I've given pills to angry boxers, ratty little chihuahuas, and monster sized mastiffs before. What challenge would it be to dole out meds for a little kitty cat?
