@shewolfnm,
I'll bring this to The Girl's attention. There is a mission for seamen that she has stayed at (you don't have to be a merchant sailor to stay there), and it is quite reasonable. If you see her posting around here today, send her a PM.

Good luck on that. If it's girls, try the Milford. Near the theater district.

@shewolfnm,
You just say that now because you want to hang out with the seamen.

May I ask when?

Don't get me wrong . . . New Jersey can be a wonderful place . . . why the last time i was in Manhattan, and the dog had to do her "business," we drove over to New Jersey . . .

Google "New York City on a budget". Check out hotels in Brooklyn and Hoboken -it's easy to take the subway into Manhattan from either place.

@Setanta,
... and drowned the poor thing in the Meadowlands, huh. Yeah, that's just what a New Yorker would do.

See that highway bridge in the middle of the picture, and behind it a small railroad bridge crossing over?

That's the Manasquan River, flowing out into the Atlantic at the top of the picture.
I grew between those 2 bridges, in that white area, which are 3 marinas lined up. Ours was the one closest to the railway bridge.
