Some guys at my school talk about how porn is cool. I've always been curious but the law says that you have to be at least 18 to view porn. I haven't checked it out yet, shouldn't have the right to look at porn if I want to? Why can't I and why do others?

The laws are there to protect kids from adults (child abusers sometimes use porn as a way to molest kids). Whether you have the right or not is really between you and your parents.
You will not get into any legal trouble if you see it. If an adult gives/shows it to you, the adult may get into legal trouble.
