I was reading his poems, yesterday. He was really good and getting better.

Of all the money e'er I had, I spent it in good company;
And all the harm I've ever done, alas was done to none but me;
And all I've done for want of wit, to memory now I can't recall,
So fill me to the parting glass, goodnight and joy be with you all.
Of all the comrades e'er I had, they're sorry for my going away,
And all the sweethearts e'er I had , they wish me one more day to stay,
But since it falls unto my lot that I should go and you should not,
I'll gently rise and softly call, goodnight and joy be with you all.
If I had money enough to spend and leisure time to sit awhile,
There is a fair maid in this town who sorely has my heart beguiled.
Her rosy cheeks and ruby lips, I own she has my heart in thrall,
So fill me to the parting glass, goodnight and joy be with you all.

@ehBeth,
Quote:
It is the morning of the 21st in Canada.
Oh, almost ....
I was concerned about the time.
I only just realized it must be close to Cav's anniversary & jumped back out of bed to check & to post this.
Now I'm toasting with a glass of Oz dry white wine.
Here's to you, Cav!
I remember how, one day, I was all full of piss and vingar and gave him some really nasty **** about a choice of the name of his restaurant. He handled me so well and with such humor that I could NOT feel more in the presence of someone with superior personal skills and a sense of the ridiculous.
He was a man about 20 ytars younger but many years older in wisdom.
This brought some tears to my eyes because I think cav had a premonition when he posted the thread about sad songs and , as we got into it further he was sounding concerned of his own mortality.
In ones lifetime, certain people pass through, and are soon forgotten. Others make a lasting impact. Cav was one of those people, who I will remember with great fondness for the rest of my life.
Thank you Cav, for what you were, and for the lives that you touched.
Cav and Timberland Kevin were two favs. Timber died when?4 years ago?
Both guys had
1great senses of humor
2competencies in their fields
3wide interests
4liked all animals(course, kevin liked some a his next to the mashed taters)
