@Lash,
Hi there, Lash. Nice to see you here.
I recall, just a few days ago, you posted your comments about Cav's grandfather's memoirs.
It was a terrific read, wasn't it?
I had quite a few (sadly now lost) email exchanges with Cav about his grandfather, following that thread.
Fascinating stuff.
My grandfather's memoirs:

Grandfather's memoirs was a fascinating, incredible wealth of observation. Quite a delectable morsel of history. He was so proud to bring it to us.
Very nice to see you as well, msolga! I'm thankful for the thread.

Yeah, I thought it was great reading, too, Lash.
Lovely to see you back & posting away, too!
Adored him.
Still miss him.
It's amazing how much stuff from him there is to look at and enjoy...still gives greatest laughs.
I wonder how his lovely family is doing?
How I miss--how we all miss--Cav. Here's a post of his from a thread I started many moons ago.
To kiss the stars of heaven would not be
so sweet as the taste of dew from your lips,
sister Luna, my perfect opposite;
You complete the circle that is my soul
and cause my spirit to dance with the gods,
and though apart, I cannot bring myself
to cry, for the air we breathe is the same,
and with each breath I take a part of you
inside me, and give a part of my soul
to you, and so, we are touching always,
and when we move, we are moving as one,
and that, my love, I cannot cry about.
Remember, this simple exchange of breath
is our lover's kiss, our eternal bond.
@Roberta,
that's beautiful, B...
(he was gone before I got here.)
@Roberta,
Thank you so much, Roberta.
I admit, I am totally bowled over.
So beautiful.
@Rockhead,

You missed out on knowing a very special person, Rocky.
Not only a prolific poster, but one with such a diverse range on interests. Which he expressed here so well.
With no fanfare, no label of "specialness" at the time.
He was completely humble, not "up himself" in any way what-so-ever. Just an "ordinary" poster here. Though much loved & appreciated.
I look back on his threads now and see that he was far from ordinary. I didn't see half those threads during the time he was here.
@Roberta,
What was the thread, Roberta?
I'd love the actual link. I'd like to read it, to appreciate the context of Cav's poem.
Can I say a wee bit about Cav's death here, without bringing you all down?
For quite a while it was clear that Cav was struggling with his health. For starters, he was posting much less here. Out of character entirely.
We had threads. Wishing him the best for a recovery, but I sort of knew <sigh> , when he posted less & less, that something was seriously wrong.
I think it was Deb, who emailed me and told me that Cav had died.
I think I might have been kind of stoic at the news, saying this was (sadly) pretty much what I expected.
Except .. except ...
I cried for days.
I found it very difficult to come to this site without crying.
And it was very hard to explain to real life friends that I was, in fact, grieving.
How to explain to people that you were completely devastated about the death of someone you had never actually met?
It rather flawed me at the time, too.
There is not one time I've heard "Vincent" in 5 years without thinking of him immediately and losing tears. Otherwise, I may go months without him coming to mind...and then suddenly ache for him. I feel bitterly and needlessly cheated.

I can give you a link to the thread, olga, but I'm too computerially inept to get a link to the exact thread. It's on page 7 of the thread. It was the Dinner Party Guest List--Any Ten People Who Ever Lived thread.
Here's the link to the thread:

Sorry I can't do better.
@Roberta,
Thank you heaps for responding to my request, anyway, Roberta.
I will work it out, I'm sure.
@msolga,
Yes...I remember finding it so surprising that I couldn't talk about it with any of my friends....because they never knew he even existed.
@dlowan,
Yes, I know, Deb.
But the grief & the sense of loss was so real.
@msolga,
I see the photograph of Cav I posted (in my first post) has now been replaced by a Tripod logo thingy.
So I'm very pleased we at least have Lettty's photograph of Cav & friends here.
These things are so fragile, aren't they?
One can be erased from history just like that!
Thanks all for posting this thread. This is James, Paul's brother. I'm at a loss for words right now...
@mezzie,
Hello, mezzie/James.
Hey, I remember you!
Greetings to you on this special day.
Please could you return when you're less at a loss for words?
That would be really good.
@mezzie,
Wonderful to see you Mezzie!
