I somewhat had hawkeye's latest opinion ( Shocked ) re cliques, mixed with that I can already look people up. Now I'm understanding the benefits more and more, especially re a potential growth in the most recent new post pages. I'm beginning to like the flexibility to use both systems - reading along on new posts, or going directly to 'friends'.

@dlowan,
Wrong, Wascal !! It is not about you, it is about me !!!

(I actually know a good deal of the rules of english, but I sacrifice them for communication...much the same way as good manners are not about rules but are about a conscious effort not to upset someone, which includes NOT pointing out they have broken the rules)

Thanks Robert, you explained more clearly and now I understand a bit better.

BTW, yes, I am curious, which is why I asked. Don't assume everyone learns the same way.

However, I know from experience I don't learn that well on a subject I know nothing about by just clicking around.

I need at least a bit of context, "a reason why", if you will, which you provided.

Thanks

Craven suffers from something which seems to afflict most techies, and that is the complete absence of any technical writing skill. He seems unable to put himself in the position of someone who knows nothing about these matters, and provide from there a simple and straight-forward explanation. He may get his back up for my saying that, but it's true nonetheless. It is a common affliction. Some of the greatest nightmares in English composition are technical manuals to accompany products. It happens to be something about which i am knowledgeable, because i've done technical writing for cash and no glory in the past. I fully acknowledge that my own, ordinary prose style usually badly needs an editor. That does not alter that i can write a clear and easy-to-understand passage of English from material which i understand myself. The biggest problem i always had in technical writing was to get the boys and girls for whom i was writing brochures or handbooks to spit it out in a sensible manner that i could understand, so that i could produce an English language version.

Craven's biggest fault is too much information--he obscures his answer under heaps of unnecessary verbiage.
