My question to atheists: What is the difference between a dead person that is being waked upon, and a living person who is doing the wake?
What is it you're getting at?
The difference between a dead person and a living person is the soul. Genesis 2:7 states: "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." The dead person is cold whereas the living person is hot because the sprit of God is hot, and is still in the living person.
A cup of tea can be hot without having a soul.
The soul is the conscious experience happening within the living body, not the living functions that mechanistically cause the body to function.
A living body can become unconscious without dying, e.g. during sleep, but it is still warm, heart is still pumping blood, etc.
