@Olivier5,
None of us long time posters on this thread are afraid of debating dissenters from atheism. Most of us are simply not interested. We have been interested, instead, in talking among ourselves, which is why littleK started the thread and we have tried to keep it going. There are one hundred thirty six other atheism threads for believers in religions to discuss their views at. This one was designed for us to talk.
You may be interested in debating the religious about atheism, in which case, start another thread.
"When we atheists tried to use this thread to discuss how to 'live' our atheism, we were told to shut up because, they said, there was no such thing as 'atheism' as a positive philosophy, atheism was just a 'lack of belief', and therefore there wasn't enough common ground to warrant a discussion.. "
Huh? Actually, discussing atheism as a positive philosophy or simple but clear lack of belief would be fine with most of us atheists of whatever sort on this thread; we've done that at some point. If you want to talk about the positives and what we could be doing now, you may find some tilting your way. I remember that Thomas was interested. I don't remember any of us telling you to shut up. I do remember saying what I thought re myself.
edit to add -
I was recruited to be a postulant in a missionary order of catholic nuns. Never did buy the shoes, but that was by the skin of my teeth as I'd signed the papers. In my later life I tend to avoid convincing others about beliefs of many sorts, and this probably affects my views on atheism as an ism to organize around.
Edits again - it's probably why I didn't go into advertising as a potential career.
