@FBM,
It is not a matter to get over-excited about, FB, that a publisher thought fit to decorate a book cover in that manner.

The King James Bible is what it is and neither piety nor tears will ever wash out a word of it.

Just for the record, if an atheist said to me "I don't believe in gods, but I like Jesus", i'd be happy to let him come round and play PC wargames with me anytime..Smile
But if an atheist said "I don't believe in gods, and I don't like Jesus", I'd tell him-"On yer bike mate, we ain't got nothing in common!"

@FBM,
That is an assertion, FB, and a claim of moral perfection is merely a disguise for not having the capacity or the chutzpah to become a pastor.

As one might claim that one is not the CEO of Exxon Mobil because one has a moral objection to its activities.

FBM asked: When your Bible has the word 'version' in it, how accurate can it be?

No big deal, teams of translators have always had their own interpretation of certain words and phrases but the underlying message stays the same.

For example this translates pretty much the same in all Bible versions-
"Love one another, feed the hungry, house the homeless, clothe the destitute, tend the sick, visit the prisoners, look after the poor"- Jesus of Nazareth (Mark 12:30, John 13:34, Matt 25: 37-40)

Same with cover versions of songs sung in different styles with different arrangements, the underlying song stays the same..Smile

Fact is, nobody knows what he looked like, he probably looked like any ordinary regular dood. Maybe if he looked liked Charlton Heston the snooty priests and Romans wouldn't have been so quick to kill him.
Isaiah, writing centuries before Jesus was born, prophesied what he'd look like-"He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him" (Isaiah 53:2)

Setanta said: He looks gay, too

But some atheists have claimed he was married to a woman and they had kids, wish they'd make up their minds..Wink

@Romeo Fabulini,
They're getting over-excited Romeo.

It is as if you are taken in by the sheer ridiculousness of choosing a picture and having a frisson over it.

I dunno mate but who cares?
I've never met a jew I didn't like, they're warm friendly people and i've worked at two small jewish-run family firms in the past.
And I vote Jerry Lewis's "The Nutty Professor" as the funniest film of all time in polls..Smile

Neither do I. But you can tell just by the volume of their ranting when some random piece of logic has got them foaming at the mouth.

You seem to presume that a) I claim moral perfection, and b) I think being a pastor is a good thing.

I guess the theists would love to have non-believers revert back to "silently oppressed" status. Tough ****. We wore that label for centuries while you guys were doing the Crusades and whatnot. Get used to it. We have a voice. We are no longer afraid.
