I think it odd that Christian visitors to this thread have never pointed out the obvious; that RF is clearly a minion of satan. What else would explain his assholiness?

He's trying to turn us to the darkness by making Christians come across as self-fascinated, ignorant, pig-******* bigots. Avert your eyes children (press ignore user) he may take other forms.

@hingehead,
Face up to it guys, I simply move into threads and take them over just like Brando's gang took over that town in 'The Wild One'..Smile

@hingehead,
Christians embrace the light hinge.

Cathedrals are known by scientists as light machines.

What other culture uses light as a subject in its paintings?

You're wasting your time my dear. You can't slough off the Christian culture no matter what invective you use. It's in the interstices of your grey matter. The rest of you is inherited from a very long way back. When life expectancy was about 22.

And I can't see why you seem so concerned about it.

What would you like in its place? Something will have to be if it disappears.

That is doing what it recommends not doing. Romeo will naturally assume that he has niggled Setanta sufficiently to get him to pull up his chair and once again type that message to us about somebody who niggles him for whatever reason. Such as calling his bluff on how clever he is.

That's feeding trolls with tablespoons full of warm syrup.

What's interesting is why Setanta addresses us that way so very often.

Setanta is a dual mind...as much of a warm pony like "carebear" as he can be bitchy ! I enjoy the complexity of his behaviour.

Did Chris O'Dowd get much of a mention in your part of the world by stating that he thought religion would be eventually be generally condemned much as racism is now?

On #QandA this week there was a bit of discussion about the 'oppression' of christians in the western world. Cough. Billy Bragg had the best comeback 'You think you've got it bad, try being a socialist.'

@neologist,
Forgive me for confusing you by taking an empathic view of how christians might explain his behaviour to distance themselves from it.

Talking about the troll is feeding the troll. If Neo attempts to prolong the agony, ignore him, too.

In 1980, the Public Broadcasting System in the United States broadcast the science-themed series Cosmos: A personal Voyage, with Carl Sagan as the presenter. (The series has been revived.) Dr. Sagan was not just an intelligent man, he was a courageous man. PBS was under attack in the Congress (which, thankfully, was not yet under the control of the Republican Party), maligned as a propaganda medium for left wing extremists. Atheists were publicly under attack, too. The elder Bush had casually remarked in an interview that atheists should not be allowed to vote. and when confronted about it at a rally (he was making his first run for president), he confirmed that he had said it, and said that he still believed that atheists should not be allowed to vote, to the cheers of his assembled, conservative supporters. Carl Sagan addressed the issue of theism head-on. (The images in this video have been brought "up-to-date" from 1980.)
