My comments ARE relevant to this thread. I suspect that is why they are so unwelcome.

What? Now there's a burden of proof. Tell me how you are sharing the experience of being an atheist in a secular society? How you self censor so as not to make family members uncomfortable? How you worry about your employment now that you've been outed as a non-church goer? Even posted an example of how atheists are portrayed in popular culture?

That's never been the argument Frank. As for me, I choose to follow wherever evidence leads me. I choose not to worry bout things that have a myth with no repeatable falsifiable evidence at all.
Lets take the concept of "Easter Bunny"
I can say that, because Easter Bunny is unfalsifiable , and , due to the lack of any supportive evidence and the availability of mountains of strong counter evidence, Easter Bunny does not exist and has never existed (I doubt that there was a historical Easter Bunny).

Substitute Easter Bunny for gods

You seem to have no trouble going around for an eternity with the items you want to highlight, Edgar. You only have trouble with the items that call into question the kind of atheism you seem to practice.

Insofar as you do that, you show traits that theists have refined over the years.

Comments from unraveling agnostics are never unwelcome. They are highly amusing and thus are manna from heaven in this weary world of woe.

You are not thumbed down anywhere near as much as I am so methinks you squeal too easily. If it is a long standing inferiority complex it is perfectly understandable. People inherit such things through no fault of their own.

I thought it was pretty clear, but let's try again:

My comments ARE relevant to this thread.

Are you suggesting absurdly that this thread has been about sharing the experience of being an atheist in a secular society?

Is this comment of yours?

Are almost any of the comments on the last several pages?

Are a majority of he comments during the last 200 pages?

I empathize with atheists on all these points, but I am responding to a segment of discussion that had to do with intelligent design...one participated in by many of the A2K atheists.

Try to keep up.

Instead, why don't you substitute "there is no god."

See what you come up with.

@spendius,
Quote:
All great genius attracts legends to itself. Legend is the common means of expressing manifestations of genius in certain people, who cannot be described in ordinary terms. For this reason the legendary data which adhere to people of genius, should be respected. . . . .Such legend is the repository of a vital aspect of truth; and ought not to be swept aside simply because it is not ascertainable ; neither,of course, should it be taken as literal truth.

Those who sweep legend aside are just demonstrating their lack of balance, perspective, intelligence and manners.
