The thread was not conceived to argue it out, as any regular here knows. There are a dozen identical arguments going on in other threads. Why the endless bile and repetition is considered interesting enough to clog every thread that even mentions atheism is an excercise in either stupidity or spite.

Never mind the endless repetitive back and forth about the roll of the US in the world, waaaay off topic, as a kind of traveling show.

I "get it" that anybody can post anything they like. I do question motivation.

There's a lot of distracting bile on nearly every thread on this site. Fery few threads evolve exactly as they were "conceived" by their authors. I'm aware of some argument and disagreement on threads involving atheism - just as there are on nearly every thread on A2K.

What makes you all so sensitive and "special" that you require absolute peace and freedom from disagreement while you entertain each other with the follies of believers and religion? Why do you expect that none of them would offer a rejoinder at all? Is you need for mutual reinforcement so great that you need a sanctuary where you can reassure yourselves, free of the distractions of the world .... like a church perhaps ?

Pages of irrelevant stuff is plain rude in any thread except funnin' sorts of threads. Not talking about a post or two, I'm talking about page after page. Discussing the merits of atheism is off topic, but not rude in the way discussing military matters ad infinitum is, complete with blowhardian insults about those offtopic issues.

True, and I agree we tend to roll.. but pointing that out on every thread but ones about shampoo or pizza is beyond distracting, it's offensive. Plus your teammate in personal vendetta-ing ramps it all up.





I see with humor that we atheists could be smart to start an A2k Atheists Group and regulate it as the Group folks do or will do once Groups get going. Trouble is, atheists are almost by definition unable to thrive in group form. I guess we're all a version of Groucho Marx.

Here we go again. Is this another one of your English "rules"? This time, state your "rule" clearly so everyone can see right off what an idiot you are. Then provide a source that backs your "rule".

Ionus is often on ignore, back in the cloak room in the corner; I let him out once in a while. Bill is on ignore without respite (I'm not interested in having a stroke from aggravation - I think I let him out once but he was back again in a few minutes) and I let Hawkeye opine away and tangle himself up in his own bungie cords most of the time.

I don't actually like to argue. I was raised in a small family that used silence as argument. I've learned to speak up, so much so that people think I'm outspoken - but I've never gotten into the business of going on and on and on about something. Plenty of people at a2k thrive on that, some do it well, and I've learned a lot from those arguments. I'm really here at a2k to figure out what I think myself, which involves mostly listening, and sometimes modifying my views.

Ah well. I see I've added to the tangential course.
