@edgarblythe,
My cousins and I vary largely on religion and politics. We assay into seeing where we might agree once in a while. Me, 'I'm largely a liberal with bits of conservatism or libertarian' she, 'I'm largely conservative, with bits of liberal.' And that's true, she was something of a freedom rider back in the day.

Maybe we're now old and crustaceously not interested about disagreement. I did have to lay down the law on political cartoons (onslaught anti obama from the hub). In trade, I let in some goofy googoo stuff as well meant.

Paddy had long heard the stories of an amazing family tradition.

It seems that his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather had all been able to walk on water on their 18th birthday. On that special day, they’d each walked across the lake to the pub on the far side for their first legal drink.

So when Paddy’s 18th birthday came ’round, he and his pal Mick, took a boat out to the middle of the lake.
Paddy, stepped out of the boat …and nearly drowned! Mick just barely managed to pull him to safety.

Furious and confused, Paddy, went to see his grandmother.

‘Grandma,’ he asked, “It’s my 18th birthday, so why can’t I walk ‘cross the lake like my father, his father, and his father before him?”

Granny looked deeply into Paddy’s troubled brown eyes and said, “Because your father, your grandfather, and your great grandfather were all born in December, when the lake is frozen, and you were born in August, ya dumb ass!”

@ossobuco,
osso, I don't agree with my living relatives about much of anything. The ones that are gone were a bit more like me, but I disagreed with them a lot too. To be a Texan, with ancestors that made their way here from Georgia and Oklahoma, mostly, I am largely out of place. I feel most at home in places like California and NYC.

I make no claim to be at all knowledgeable about Spanish and I don't think that your English is bad, I've never thought that, but I still don't understand what you meant, Francis.

@JTT,
Ok, I admit that my comment was poorly worded and incomplete..

We have a saying that, when translated, goes this way: "Depending on whether you are powerful or not, the decision of the court rules whether you are innocent or not".

Similarly, depending on whether the poster is perceived as someone who shares your views, your own comment will be different, for no other reason than the latter..

I try to avoid such behavior and act as impartially as possible...

(PS: mind that when I use the possessive adjective your, it's supposed to apply to people in general, not specifically you..)

@hingehead,
But what was there in the video that we haven't heard many times before? The repetition of the same arguments time after time do not add anything to the arguments the first time.

Why do atheists need a constant supply of reassurance? I think that sort of thing is a sign of insecurity. It's what drives people to constantly be checking their appearance in mirrors for the onset of wrinkles or grey hairs.

One caller in one video is irrelevant. Especially when it has been carefully selected after a search in the appropriate places by those who want to find it.

Over 90% of Americans are not atheists. Finding two militant atheists to take on a nut job is fatuity unlimited. It's actually grossly insulting to members of A2K that the poster of the video thinks we should be persuaded by it. 3 interchangeable actors could have made it. Where is the gullibility quotient in such a case? And where is the proof that that isn't the case? 3 atheists could have made it with one, the caller, being scripted to feed the other two the right lines.
