@Setanta,
Say it again. Say it over and over. I told you: It doesn't mean anything to me anymore. You aren't select with your name-calling to me, and so it's meaningless anymore. It's the economics of insult; the inflation on the currency of cursing. You're broke. Diversify your rhetoric portfolio. This boorish bait bit bores.

You give the same response, carrot or stick: You put it up your ass and complain about discomfort.

Do you have anything to contribute to the thread, or are you just here to fight? I'd be very interested in you contributing some part of your experience as an atheist or your feelings. That part of you is very interesting. Unfortunately, it's not what you actively choose to share here.

As i've said again and again, as long as you continue to bullyrag me, i'll keep calling you names in return, you bloody hypocrite. You're the one with the bankrupt rhetoric. You're trashing the thread, and as long as you keep it up, i'll respond in kind. It will end as soon as you follow your own advice and shut up.

@Setanta,
Set, you were already doing this before I returned to the thread. Not sure how I ruined a thread you had already been so nasty in. Why don't you just stop? Probably because you want to argue with someone.

You'll do as you please. What makes your experience different than the theists'? The same?

Good question, why don't you just stop? I've already many times explained how i differ from theists. It's not my fault if the only thing you want to focus on is what you don't like about my posts, while ignoring the many other posts in which i am not defending myself against hateful jackasses like you and Snood. It you want it to stop, just shut up.

@Setanta,
When I shut up and just read the thread, it continued. I hardly believe you. You find any excuse to pounce. This is how you want the thread to be.

Alright Set, what do you think we should talk about in this thread? Imagine all the theists are gone. What are we talking about? Specifically. What are you talking about?

As in the present

I imagine it is not very interesting at all. It will be much the same experience as most people. Domestic bliss, taking the dog for a walk, watching telly, snoozing in the rocking chair, slippers, bedtime, Horlicks etc. Nothing Sadean. Straight up and down the track much like the Christians in fact.

@failures art,
I have been discussing the topic of the thread. I don't have problems with EB, with Hingehead, with Osso, with FM or with any number of other people in this thread. I do have a problem with being the target of your puerile attacks. As long as you continue to attack, i'll fight back.

Only to you, "boss". Whereas you're a pain-in-the-butt creep to many, and you "reveal" it constantly. And you're welcome.

About atheism...

One thing I can empathize with is the necessity to hide part of the true self expressed by littlek and others. It's not right that they should have to lie on their jobs or in their lives because of the kneejerk reaction that people might generally have toward atheists.

I also agree that it's stinks that an atheist wouldn't be able to be open about how they (don't) believe, if they were in pursuit of public office. Because it is undeniable that atheists couldn't get a fair shake in a public election.

Having said all that, in the interest of full disclosure I have to say that I still harbor the exact kind of prejudice that would make me look askance at , say, a teacher in my junior high who was open about being atheist.

I've come quite a way in sort of evolving past my homophobia, and I had a couple of experiences a few years back that made me take a hard look at how I relate to women in positions of authority. Living and letting live with atheists is something I admit to having room for growth about.

Here's a hint, genius...
If several people on the same day tell you you're an asshole, the chances are that there ain't no conspiracy afoot. The cause of all your contention is looking back at you in the mirror, asshole.

@aidan,
aiden, Thanks for the heads-up on the recluse spider. I had somewhat of a similar situation when I was i Costa Rica some years ago. I slipped on a wet rock, and injured my shin. There was a surgeon in our group from Minn, and he told me to clean it immediately, and keep my leg up. I showed him all the scars on my shin, and told him that was normal for me. He said, if that got infected, I can lose my leg. I followed his instruction, and he even gave me some kind of med when we got back to the hotel.

Good to know these things - we take for granted.

@snood,
I believe that there is a common misconception that atheists are all a cynical non conformist bunch and like any minority, they gather social stereotypes that impact how people may view them. In my teens, I must admit that I believed that if you were devout Atheist you were merely a devout cynic, reincarnate of Oscar the Grouch. I still find more negative than positive Atheists, however I rather enjoy thier company more than nametag christians

In short, I do think Atheists are persecuted for thier lack of beliefs as much as Christians for their abundance, Christians merely make more noise when being stepped on.

What we observed were religious people intruding into our private lives by knocking on our door to convert us into christianity. We politely told them "we are buddhists," but they continued to intrude anywhos.

Yeah, we turn into grouches when christians don't get the idea that we're not interested.

They should spend more time saving their own souls.

Tell us again, Setanta, exactly who is hijacking this thread? Oh, yeah. It's you.

I hope this thread can get back on track so that items relevant to the topic are discussed. Yes, I do find it interesting as to what the atheist population has to say. Discussion is good. Arguing is for children.

@Intrepid,
One thing they do seem to get is a lot of people knocking on their doors trying to convert them. I can't recall that ever happening to me and nobody has ever told me that it happens to them.

Maybe that's the only authentic atheist experience they get. I'm assuming it happens to them a lot and they are not making it up.

I can't believe that discussing their experience of being prevented from discussing their experience of atheism by believers is worth making a song and dance about. Orgies with atheists, which one might think pretty common, never get a look in. I have always found ladies with no Christian inhibitions to be quite good fun.

I am curious as to what denomination these "Christians" that were knocking on your door are. There are actually very few that do that.

@Intrepid,
This thread was on track when you and your asshole buddy Snood came in here to start whining about my account of the Mama Angel incident. I didn't say anyone was hijacking the thread--but you and your idiot buddies are trashing it. We've got exactly three people calling me names here--you, FART and Snood. According to the genius asshole Snood, that's evidence that the problem must be me. Three people, no more. I've not called it a conspiracy. That assholes flock together is not evidence of a conspiracy.
