Who doesn't like to eat?

to answer the original question: not me. in fact, i probably enjoy eating a little too much. i manage to eat healthy snacks throughout the day (oatmeal, bean & avocado tacos, salmon burgers) but come the late night hours, I turn into a sugar & starch fiend. it satisfies a certain area of my brain, and i cannot get enough (that is, until i am so bloated and full that i go to bed in order to escape the guilt)

like another poster mentioned, i am healthy on a MBI chart, but i can definitely see where my excess fat is stored. i shoot a lot of hoops, which has surely helped me from turning into Peter Griffin.

speaking of sugar, earlier today i stumbled upon a study that linked sugar consumption to depression, which, based on my love of late-night sugar, could explain my frequent depressive episodes. so just a heads up to anyone with depression symptoms: it could be the sugar!

@StillwaterRipple,
I use a lot of sugar.....I used to drink tea without sugar and shortly after breakfast I could eat lots of chocolate. For some reason - I forgotten why - I put sugar in my tea and all of a sudden I had no need of chocolate in the morning.
Now I drink tea and coffee with lots of sugar and I have much more energy to do things. This of course makes me more active and I naturally burn off calories.
Don´t tell me to use sweaternes - they had the same affect - desire of chocolate.
I have no tendencies to depression or being down for no reason at all.

@BorisKitten,
Quote:
I feel this way too. When I eat too much I feel awful. Sick. I guess not everyone has this reaction.

I've read that there are people who don't have this internal switching off mechanism and that accounts for why they're heavy. But I think that's apparent from childhood- they were heavy babies, toddlers, children- all the way through life. It doesn't really account for people who were normal sized as children and then gain weight and get heavier as they get older.

@saab,
Saab - you're not gonna believe this, but I used to eat chocolate for breakfast. I knew that at some point during the day, I'd have some, so I figured I'd get it out of the way first thing which would give my body time to work it off as the day went on.

All I needed was a taste - not a full-sized candy bar - to satisfy that chocolate need. But I knew it wasn't a good thing to do.

Now I don't leave the house without eating some sort of protein for breakfast and it's surprising how satisfied I am for how long. I often don't feel hungry again until three or four in the afternoon.

I'm also confused about what is better to use in drinks -sugar or sweetners? I can't seem to come to a conclusion about the pros and cons and figure out which is better in the long run - because I do drink at least three cups of tea a day that would mean 6 tsps. of sugar a day - that seems like quite a lot when added to the sugar that's already in my food.

@aidan,
I believe you - if I happened to have chocolate in the kitchen I used to snack on that before breakfast.
What is best for you? Plenty of sugar and lots of energy to do things or no sugar and spend the day hanging around not doing much?
I have no tendency to diabetes, my dentist who is probably 20 years younger than I envies me my teeth which are in such good condition.
Without sugar I would probably be too lazy to even brush my teeth.

I love eating, but I do have to watch what I eat. That's why I work out 4 times a week and run 3 times a week.

Very interesting points here. I believe that we should eat what we like as long as it is not in excess, and that we are active enough to stay feeling well.

Lately I have been giving language instructions to a psycholgist, dietician and also specialist in eating disorder. She always serves tea, nuts and chocolate during the hours.
When we got to the chapter of time and food I asked questions, she had to answer and she had to ask questions I had to answer.
Something like this: When do you eat? What do you eat? Of course my questions where for language and hers also a bit professional.
By the time we finished she said to me: "You belong to the very few people, who eat regularly, eat slowly and eat when you are hungry and stop just before you are full"
Of course she has to do with people with eating problems, but it still shows that in modern times people have forgotten how to eat healthy and listen to what their body tells them.
How many just buy breakfast on the way to work and eat and drink while walking instead of sitting down at home and have a healthy breakfast.
Then they need a snack during the fornoon and that isn´t satisfaing so they continue to snack all day.
