@CalamityJane,
Non alcoholic beer my arse. Very Happy

The only time that non alcoholic beer is drunk in Northern Europe is when someone is a designated driver, or they have a hangover from the night before.

I think a beer at breakfast at that sort of gathering does a lot towards the breaking down of barriers.
Just the one mind, otherwise we'll start getting pictures of Bazz, Dave and Angie all frolicking in a Bavarian Hot Tub.

@CalamityJane,
Merkel, he and quite a few others got non-alcoholic Weizen.
But it wasn't by the local Karg-Brauerei (as the glass' label showed), it was a Munich beer.(Karg doesn't brew alcohol-free beers, but did the now famous "Summit Weissbier – Handcraftet in Bavaria!")

A poem written for one of our elders, dalehileman, and posted elsewhere.
Now edited and revised for all:

We're a buncha hop heads
Dregs of the vat
Born in a tap room
Never knowin where we're at
Of all the drunken hop heads
We are the first.
Plastered and fermented and
Burped all over the universe . . .

I have just tasted the best beer in the world, brought home in a growler!

Holy Chit! Fantastic! Truly amazing!

I've been searching for this stuff for a while. I've had the Founder's Porter, which is awesome, but today I located the stout, only 15 miles from my office.

I loved Richard Hammond's definition....something like.....

A lady's 1970's style welcome mat.

@Lordyaswas,
Have you seen Murder In Successville? That's the best portrayal of Hammond I've yet to see.

@izzythepush,
It's very good. I only saw one, but "Hammond" was a boffin, and really looked and acted like the real thing.

"Beersoup" (Biersuppe) was the traditional breakfast in Germany, in some parts still in the 19th century. (With bread in it as well as a bit of caraway.) Then coffee was preferred.

"Warm beer" (Warmbier) is the same as beer soup, just without the bread and caraway.)

Warmbeer was a drink, beersoup food.

@Walter Hinteler,
Class Action Settlement Means AB InBev Must Refund Customers For Faux-Import Beck’s
Quote:
Beck’s drinkers who happen to have held on to their receipts can receive 10 cents per bottle (or $1.75 for a 20-pack) up to a total of $50. Customers who don’t save all of their beer receipts can receive up to $12.
So go to your beer seller, get those $ 12 and buy some good beer.

Welcome to a2k.
I don't know why down thumb bum attacked your post.
Lagers are a fine alternative to ales, but all a matter of taste.
Do you have a specific lager in mind?

He was reported to the admins for his obvious spamline signature. You do know that spam isn't allowed at a2k right?

He's not coming back to answer your question. He's an obvious spammer. Rolling Eyes
