What a great job you have.

I had my normal Blue Moon with an orange watching the Red Sox beat the Braves at The Ted in Atlanta in Monday....it was lovely.

I need to do better at trying new things though. Anybody tried the Redd's Strawberry Ale? I thought about it and then nipped it and went for the regular.

@mismi,

Just read where it said not to drink this stuff. Apparently it is a sissy ale. Who would have thought it?

It said to drink:

Bought a six pack of Blood Orange Pale Ale by Great South Bay Brewery - Beer on a misfortunate whim. It's not the worst beer I drank and I'll finish what I poured into my glass.
http://cdn.beeradvocate.com/im/beers/80348.jpg

I'll transfer ownership of the remaining bottles to my flatmate the rest of the pack and write it off as a failed experiment. I can't smell let alone taste anything resembling citrusy at all. No sweetness at all. Live and learn. Maybe next experiment will be a marginally more successful one.

@Ragman,
It has to do with Panzade drinking beer at work. I think dalehileman must not know he is part of a band.

You're right, O. Some of us old guys know virtually nuttin about the modern world

Incidentally the greater Southwest Beer-Tasting Society has tried Fat Tire, finding it okay where 3.0 = acceptable and 5.0 = excellent

Fat Tire Amber Ale, Co 2.0/2.6; 3.1/3.4; 2.3/4.9; 4.8/2.9; 4.2/3.2; 3.8/2.9; 6.9/3.1; 4.0/3.0

@dalehileman,
I don't understand the ratings, being newly interested in beer.
That string of numbers, for example the first set, 2.0/2.6. That was one rating? low and high ratings from two people? fifty people? Those numbers all from different bar surveys?

At this point I'm quite like Mismi, in liking what I like and not being able to go on about all the tastes. I'm the same way with wine, and I love many good wines (if only I could pony up to pay for those, like my beloved Brunellos). In my case, I've got an excuse because I'm quite a bit anosmic (hereditary). I do have some pretty good tastebuds, but probably worse than other people's.

Thank you O. for your interesting in our scoring. One brew but multiple tastings conducted at separate times. Actually there are usually just two participants per tasting. In each pair the first score is GSBTS' Recording Secretary (me) and the second a charter member (usually my No. 2 Son)

… ordinarily conducted in jacuzzi. The temp presumably drives off alky more quickly, making more tastings possible per session

Me neither. In spite of some 40 years' organized tasting I still consider myself an amateur

Wine tasting also, O., an intriguing hobby. However have always preferred beer inasmuch as more tastings in bigger gulps

Thank you O. for that new word. It's not everyday…..

I'm impressed by the consistency of my sons' ratings compared to mine and their incredible memories of color as well as flavor

You once rated Fat Tire a 6.9.

If 5 is "excellent," what's 6.9?
