@izzythepush,
Scorings from the annals of the Greater Southwest Beer-Tasting society, of which I'm proud to be a charter member and recording secretary

Fosters lager, Ga, Tx 3.1/2.7; 4.4/4.4; 3.2/2.3; 3.3/3.4; 1.8/1.6

On a nonlinear scale where 3.0 is satisfactory and 10.0 tops, Izzy, we'd incline to agree with your assessment

Back in the 90's our band played a casino for a week in Reno and if you sat at the bar and played video poker they provided free Fosters and hot dogs.

To this day, when I eat a hot dog I get a hankering for a Fosters.

@panzade,
I bought some Bah-Humbug beer today.....

http://media.beeroverip.org/beers/bah-humbug.jpg

It seems a bit early to try it, but for the sake of the education of my fellow a2ker's, I'll force one or two down the old gullet this evening.

Hic. I shall return......

@Lordyaswas,
If we're talking Christmas ales, you can't go far wrong with this.

I find myself actually liking PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon) beer these days. Which is to say, I find the taste actually good and enjoyable -- and the price is right!

Does that make me a Hipster? Because I like to think I'm sorta the opposite of a Hipster.

For the budget conscious. This one costs less than $2, a true hop star with 8.4% power. Available at Trader Joe's

@neologist,
Had some great beers on my recent trek to Hungary, Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic. Will post some pix when I get them organized.

Bending over to heft a 12-pack of Sierra Nevada at the grocery store I noticed a new IPA from New Belgium in Colorado.
http://www.newbelgium.com/images/beer/beer_ra_prod.png

I conducted my taste test by having one at about 50 degrees and one ice-cold.
The dormant citrus overtones really surprised me in the warmer brew and there was a slight sweetness; a rarity amongst gruff, bitter IPAs.
At $13.99 a 12-pack it's a pretty good value.

@cicerone imposter,
I loved the Castle District!

Tell me, CI, have they renovated all the buildings up there? Because when I was there (1996), not long after the Russkies had gone, the old buildings were still pockmarked with schrapnel spray and bullet marks.
We were told that the Magyar were going to leave the Castle District as it was, as a memorial to the fallen of ww2.

Please tell me it's all been preserved.

@Lordyaswas,
Yes, most of the buildings have been renovated. Here's a picture I took of the building as you approach the Castle District with those bullet dents.

@cicerone imposter,
Bipolar bears are the best in the world, except they tend to scratch while trying to get their socks off.

I've not heard of bipolar beer. Is that a little sweet with a hint of lime?

@ossobuco,
I'm not familiar with bipolar bear beer. I like Guinness only because it's not my regular diet; it's different, and one must acquire a taste for it. It's pretty good when drunk once every several months or so. Mr. Green

@panzade,
I've noticed this a few times now with IPA posts.

Is it usual for non Brits to drink IPA chilled, like a lager?

I would reel if someone served me a chilled one, just the same as I would with any other ale, as probably about 75% of the flavour is surpressed, IMO.

Cool good. Cold bad.
