We had a fairly low-key new year's. Went to a kid-friendly party -- "it's midnight somewhere!" -- that was over by eight. Tons of adorable babies, lots of kids, and one 15-yr-old (sozlet+6) who is our own little time machine (met her when she was nine and she reminded us strongly of sozlet who was then three -- now that sozlet is nine she is indeed exactly the same as sozlet+6 was back then. So we got a glimpse into teenage sozlet -- not bad -- rather mature clothes though, hmm -- they chatted for an hour or so until sozlet+6 had to leave, cute to watch 'em.)
We went to a NYE bash at a casino in town - it was a lot of fun - lots of crazy people there

I had an extraordinarily low-key NYE. I stayed home and listened to the new housemate and her young friends talk about things like 70s music and the TV show Friends. Very amusing. I had one beer and ate almond butter on crackers. I was reading a book in my room when midnight struck. This may sound depressing to some of you, but it was just fine by me!

Hi David - no, I don't gamble, but Alex did win some. He has an interesting philosophy regarding craps which I can barely understand. The casino is in Calgary. I'm never flying to the US again if I can help it.
