The point on lack of freedom is made when you understand that it's not about if you wanted X but why you had to wanted X...

@Fil Albuquerque,
I still say that freedom is limited by one's environment and resources.

@Fil Albuquerque,
To each action, a reaction. If matter influences the mind (and it evidently does) then it follows that the mind influences matter, by virtue of the law of action-reaction. It's as simple as that.

@Olivier5,
It looks like you are a Compatibilist as in action-reaction there is no freedom, all action is a reaction to a previous event. Still, as most compatibilists, you think we OWN our will...

@Olivier5,
No argument there! That the Egyptians built the Great Pyramids, and the Chinese built the Great Wall are examples of how man has changed the landscape of this planet. Also,

It's ironic you mention Logic in a discussion about freedom.

@Olivier5,
I also try to be logical, but I'm not so sure I always succeed. All we can do is try.

Logic, for, me, is powerful. For you it's an illusion.

@Olivier5,
Logic springs from the recognition of the natural order of things in spacetime...we live through it not outside of it.

@Fil Albuquerque,
I am not talking of God's logic, which is some pie in the sky. I am speaking of human logic as a mental ability to reason effectively and correctly. If human minds count for nought, human logic counts for nought.

I think you better watch that video again...you cannot separate one from another. Human Logic is not a Castle of cards build in the air...

@Fil Albuquerque,
If, we didn’t have control of our will, could we create new uses for the natural order as we reorder it?

@Fil Albuquerque,
I have no interest in theology. Human logic exists, and as far as I am concerned, it seems to work. That's good enough for me and I'm not going to give up on human logic just because some esoteric dreamer out there thinks I should...

@Olivier5,
No one appealed to theology just to a holistic approach to logic, simple common sense don't make divides between big n small, the sky or the earth, man and the Universe.

Dualism if you know what it entails requires a magic relationship between two fundamental kinds of substances in the Universe the Soul and the body which includes the brain. The last two obey relations of cause and effect along with the environment, as for the Soul, well that's reserved for the esoteric dreamers you were talking about!
...again irony keeps flowing from your own wording as you make it up...

@Fil Albuquerque,
I don't understand the phrase: "holistic approach to logic". For me logic is a form of thinking, a discourse if you wish. A subset of what you describe as epiphenomena.

If you agree that logic means something, says something useful, then why would you say that the workers and producers of logic (human minds) are without any importance and have no consequences?

Logic doesn't come from nowhere and everywhere. It resides (at least in part) within us human minds.

And that's the reason why intelligence is subjective in everything we believe in and do. I'm glad to have studied Philosophy in college, although it was my minor. I remember it started with reality by people living in a dark cave. https://www.ukessays.com/essays/philosophy/platos-allegory-of-the-cave-philosophy-essay.php
