@Francis,
I never did read Satanic Verses. Got to put it on my list.

On bible quotes or any other quotes including signature lines, I take them for whatever interest I might have at the time. I am dismayed by various religions' aggressive postures, and constant clip and quotes annoy me for those reasons, being iffy on proselytizing. I don't mind the sincerely made quote up for discussion.

I engaged him in Italian too. No reply other than quotes..

I, therefore, assume einstein is Italian? If not, I can understand the lack of reply. Laughing

I happen to like the language of the bible. Plain and simple.
Not into talking about anyone or anything else tonight.
You all feel free though. ( I might do an acronym or listen to
a few songs - hope that doesn't offend- you can always vote me down if it does ).
U see, Rebecca, Andy has appointed himself MASTER OF ALL EQUESTRIAN RULES, especially the high ones,
of this forum, so u have to check with HIM, for his permission! That 's very important!

So happens, aidan, I like the language of the Bible as well, particularly the King James translation which is Elizabethan poetry of a high order. That is totally beside the point of the discussion. We were not arguing the merits of the language in the Bible but, rather, some newby's unaccountable habit of posting nothing except biblical quotes. This thread is about the Einstain chracter, not about religion or the Bible.

For the last time, get off that damn' high horse! Yes, you sure are on it.
See, Rebecca, ANDY is also the official self appointed CENSOR of this forum so he gets to tell everyone
what thay can say and what thay can 't, because he is so important !

Merry Andrew has stated it three times now, that this is a topic about gold einstein and not the bible,
or you for that matter. Get it?
U know, Jane, I don 't think she got it;
Y don 't go stick your head in the toilet and yell from there?
Maybe she can hear u better. Let us know how that works out !

Huh? Andy gets to have an opinion, just as you and Aidan and the rest of us do.

Yeah, and he gets to ENFORCE it too,
ordering people around all over the place telling them what to do
and what not to do. He must think he 's very important.

@OmSigDAVID,
This is quite funny from a poster who screams in bolded italic caps.

Me, I think the language of "The Bible," (King James version) is fantastically ridiculous, plus unnecessarily difficult to understand. It's outdated, and thus adds "authority" to unwitting readers.

A local church presently has a quote on their road-sign which says, in part, that God "Daily loadeth me with Benefits."

Oh, Pleez! I'd rather not be "loadeth" with anything, thank you. "Loadeth" is not a word. At least, not any more.

@BorisKitten,
I'm assuming you don't much care for poetry, Boris. The King James bible has some exquisite late Elizabethan, early Jacobean verse. Solomon's Song of Songs in the Old Testament is among the most erotic (and beautiful) love poetry anywhere.

You're one of the most annoying trolls on a2k - 99 % of the time I just ignore
you but since you address me specifically: the words you utter here speak
clearly from a place where I don't care to go to. Spare me with your autistic mumble jumble in the future.

@Merry Andrew,
My long ago dead old friend who was a tenured lit prof and agnostic revered the King James version of the bible (he was from an orthodox jewish family, back in the day). He taught a course on the bible as literature. Also one on the bible and something about psychology or psychiatry. I, being raised catholic, wasn't exposed to the king james.. but liked to hear him talk about it over a single malt.

With ice.

@ossobuco,
To explain myself slightly more, I'm not fully against religion. I have big trouble with piousness, a staple of my youth, and, yes, of me in my youth, and piousness re whatever divergent religion. I get it and don't like it. Pie-osity.

So, theological or teleological arguments, go for it, though I usually won't read the threads now, I used to. Blasting quotes, not good.

New theory - this is Gus working up anti religion fervor..

Come back, Gus, and let us stand before the pearly gates..

@ossobuco,
Is this a fight thread?

Can I use bible verses, or other religious verses, to fight with?

Doesn't the bible say we go to hell for free speech?
