@dadpad,
Hey, dadpad did you see the news tonight were a kangaroo tried to drown a dog and when the owner went to rescue it he was scratched up rather badly ? Any ideas why a kangaroo would be guilty of such offences and any idea who it was ?

@Ionus,
Yup saw that and as usual the media has it all wrong. No idea who it was.
The report i heard mentioned that the roo lured the dog into the dam.
WRONG WRONG WRONG.
the roo was seeking to escape from the dog that was chaseing it. It sought sanctuary in the water. The dog followed it into the water and the kangaroo defended itself. When the dogs owner came (stupidly) to it's rescue the roo was already in fight mode and defended itself.
If i chase you till you are too tired to run then corner you and continue to threaten what is your reaction?
flight or fight?

@dadpad,
we have the same problem with racoons around here. Many guys have these coon dog trials . They go out at night and build a fire somewhere and sit around while their pack of hounds go chase racoons. They can tell by the barking when the dogs tree a coon. Howvere, if a racoon gets tired , he will run into a small pond or lake and better be able to defend itself from the dogs. (A racoon in quite at home in the water and can disembowel a hound dog if the dog goes and follows) The dogs are trained NOT to pursue a coon into a lake and usually the dogs will stand near the lake baying a long drawn out howl. This lets the hunters know to stop dreinking around the fire and go collect their dogs. Its a very lazy mans sport, but it gets em out of the house.

Course, like Austria, we dont have no kangarooes in the US
