@Rockhead,

i kinda/sorta watched it all the way through.
JD's little bro finally settled it in the bottom of that frame.
time of game -- 5:03, or a smidge longer than one of those classic sawx-yanx nine inning affairs...

@Region Philbis,
Thinking of the baseball classic movie "Angels in the Outfield".

hmmmmm.

the a-fraud situation gets more and more complimicated.

while I would like to see him made an example of, I have no wish to let the Yankees off the hook for the contract they gave him.

Bravo, Buck Showalter! O’s manager criticizes advantage Yankees would get from lifetime A-Rod ban

"They're hot right now," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said of the Royals. "Things are going their way. They're definitely into the games over there. Their pitching staff is good, even though we put a lot of pressure on them; they've got some strikeout guys. They play the game; they get after it pretty hard."

@Rockhead,
That's good reading, especially this line:

And I don't know about you, Buck,(Showalter) but I already had my popcorn popped and was looking forward to seeing the Yankees lie in the expensive bed of aging stars they started making in the latter half of the past decade.

@tsarstepan,
That's just terrible, tsar!

Everyone knows you're supposed to run through first base, not slide into it. I've never seen such an awful baserunning error.

Lackey, Buchholz, Doubront, Peavy, Lester, Dempster, ... and only five chairs.

Who will be left standing when the music stops?

I dunno maybe the guy who gave up 7 runs on 9 hits and 5 walks in 6 innings tonight?

As White Sox broadcaster Steve Stone would say, "Little Leaguers, this is not how you execute the rundown."

and it was "speedy" Nick Swisher they had hung up...

I had forgotten about Mays and Mantle.

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona watched his team flail all night against Miami Marlins rookie Jose Fernandez and found a reason to be grateful.

''Thankfully he's in the National League,'' Francona said.

The "Kid" struck out 14 in his first start since turning 21 and hit a sacrifice fly RBI to boot.

Although they're cellar-dwellers, they're fun to watch.

I'm saying dirty words.

and disparaging Aaron Crow's ancestry...

2 silly runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

now it's tied for the ninth. and beyond if it goes like last night...

@Rockhead,
Well, looks like it turned out better for KC this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Boston is doing to Arizona's Corbin (12-2, ERA near 2) what it has done to most pitchers this season, making him work himself into the ground before he reaches the end of the 6th inning. Boston is down 0-1 in the middle of fifth, but hopefully we can push Corbin out of the game by the 7th.

In the game against Seattle when we scored 6 runs in the 9th to win, we did all that in a Felix Hernandez start. We only got 1 run against King Felix, but we tired him out.

Looks a former Yankee player (from the 2009 team) facing the current crop of Yankee players. Darth Vader versus a bunch of second-rate clones.

(The Yanks have been Jaywalkers Row this year.)

I'm not quite sure what Neddy is thinking.

admittedly Alex Gordon is not a prototypical lead-off guy. he does get on base well...

but hitting him cleanup is just kinda silly in my book.

oh well, at least it's not Byrd...
