@Rockhead,
Speaking of Cleveland, I like Masterson...picked him for my fantasy team months ago. He's been berry, berry good to me. Glad to see KC on top again. Makes things more interesting.

@Ragman,
actually we are a distant 3rd still.

but we don't stink.

and our pitching is pretty good...

I don't really see the playoffs for them this year, but the race is something we haven't felt for a looooong time around here.

They need to find the money to ink Santana to an extension...

@Region Philbis,
really?

how many dollars did they spend to be where they are?

they are in a whole different stratosphere from kc...

lets see what losing Hanley does to them before we pass judgment.

@Rockhead,
Sadly, tomorrow 12 more players will be punished due to use of PEDs. Worse still will be the punishment their teams and subsequent playoff chances. Cruz of Texas will go down. And maybe some other surprises.

As for A-fraud? Won't waste too many words...but he's sick and will drag Yanks and MLB through more mud. For what? More of his denial!

Would rather focus on the fun pennant races.

Go Sawx!

@Ragman,
In the New York Times there was a comedy piece on Rodriguez. He blames his daddy for the whole thing. You see, if his pop hadn't walked out on him when he was 9 then all would be right with the world. Of course in various news conferences (as in more attention for him) he blames the Yankees, MLB, and basically every player since the start of time. Rolling Eyes
Is he even capable of owning up to his screwups?
Wish he'd disappear...are there any alien spaceships due in the area in the next few days? Send him to another planet, maybe that would work for him. It would sure work for me and plenty of Yankee fans and baseball lovers in general.

@Sturgis,
I get a bit sad for what it potentially does to the attention and media focus on Mariano which he so justly deserves. It takes away a bit from his final season and one of his best. He's all class.

(i know i don't gotta remind you that it takes more than $$$ to build a contender)

i think they came together when clubhouse pariah beckett went down with a neck.
fourteen straight road wins is a big enough sample-size to not be a fluke...

buchh ain't back yet.
he's still doing long-toss with crow hop, per dr andrews.
(if and) when he pitches again, they might move dempster to long relief/spot starting.

the adage goes "you can never have enough pitching", so i don't see this as a problem.
farrell is smart enough to fit everyone in, and give rest to those who need it...

@Region Philbis,
adding to that..you need even more pitching when your house is Fenway.

@Ragman,
oddly, the current stats for 2013 show Fenway Park pitching disadvantage has been minimized. Over the years it was a known disadvantage (adding like a margin of 0.50 ERA). Their better pitchers of this season seems to have learned how to handle it.

Maybe I got that wrong...inverted logically?

Major League Baseball has agreed to 50-game suspensions with 12 players for their roles in the Biogenesis case,
FoxSports.com reported Monday.

Alex Rodriguez was expected to be served with the harshest penalty, and an announcement was expected later Monday.

The players confirmed by FoxSports.com to have agreed to the suspensions without the right to appeal are:

Nelson Cruz, Texas Rangers outfielder.

Everth Cabrera, San Diego Padres shortstop.

Jhonny Peralta, Detroit Tigers shortstop.

Antonio Bastardo, Philadelphia Phillies reliever.

Jordany Valdespin, New York Mets outfielder.

Francisco Cervelli, Yankees catcher.

Jesus Montero, Seattle Mariners catcher.

Cesar Puello, New York Mets outfield prospect.

Fautino De Los Santos, San Diego Padres pitching prospect.

Sergio Escalona, Houston Astros pitching prospect.

Fernando Martinez, New York Yankees outfield prospect.

Jordan Norberto, free-agent pitcher.

Milwaukee outfielder Ryan Braun was the first player to reach an agreement with MLB on a suspension for his connection
to the Biogenisis case. The 2011 NL MVP accepted a season-ending 65-game suspension last month.

Not one gringo player. They're all Latins.
Is there some predilection to use PFDs if you speak Spanish?

@panzade,
except for Braun...

I don't necessarily buy the popular theory that the latin players are more exposed to it in their home countries.

but I don't have a better one ready to trot out yet, either...
