Now I understand why the twinkies went to hell.

They traded Nick Punto.

now they just got eight other guys that play like him...

Philly 3-1 mid 8.

@Rockhead,
Rays had an amazing season considering it was supposed to be a "rebuilding" year. Keep the nucleus together, a few tweaks here or there, and they can challenge again in 2012. GO RAYS!!!

what a shame.
the team deserves a better fate then that...

The Rays deserve a better city. I wonder how long MLB owners will put up with a major league team located in what is, in effect, a minor league market.

@Rockhead,
If it weren't for Granderson's two fielding gems of the decade saving several runs, there might be a far different result. I've seen the replays of both fielding gems and my jaw hangs agape. Check them out for yourselves on ESPN today/tonight or maybe Youtube has them?

@Region Philbis,
Found them: here's the replays...2 gems..and also that one by Jackson deep in centerfield was nothing to sneeze at either.

Go to 0:36, 1:22 and 2:22-2:41 in that video link.

The second catch was very impressive. The first catch was the result of Granderson going in on the ball initially and then recovering from his own mistake with a desperation leap. He made it a whole lot harder than it should have been. The guy on ESPN said that he "got a bad hop on the ball." Well, if by "bad hop" he means "Granderson initially went in the wrong direction," then yes, he got a bad hop.

@joefromchicago,
I feel that it's still spectacular even if it is so 'cause he initially made the wrong move that made it a depseration leap. Still gotta appreciate his athleticism. It's all about theater, anyhow.

White Sox name Robin Ventura manager

kinda risky -- the guy has zero managerial experience.
they'd better surround him with coaches that know what they're doing...

I want to see Pujols in a World Series. I sure hope his team rallies behind the cause too.

@Region Philbis,
here's my thought on the Ventura debacle...

what happens next year when the white sox travel down to play the Rangers in Arlington?

there will be a bench clearing brawl, and somebody is gonna hafta tackle Robin as he rumbles toward the owner's box for one more shot at an ass whipping from Nolan...
