the AL has been the superior league for a while now, dominating inter-league play.
the DH prolly has more to do with it than which players are in each league...
no, i think the NL has had better pitching for quite some time now.
this year it's closer than it's been in a while, but the NL is still superior.
ERA's tend to be lower when one or two hitters in a line-up are easy outs...
feel free to refute with stats -- again too lazy to look them up...
The National league is about pitching. and pitching strategy.
the #8 hitter gets a lot of walks that won't happen in the AL.

Went to look at the stats at baseball-reference.com.
During the last 5 years, the ERA difference has favored the National League, but by very little... except for 2009 and 2010.
IMHO, the DH factor helps telling that, if the difference is negligible, AL pitchers are better.
2006: AL 4.52, NL 4.49
2007: AL 4.52, NL 4.44
2008: AL 4.36, NL 4.30
2009: AL 4.46, NL 4.20
2010 (pre All-Star): AL 4.22, AL 4.11.
And, generally speaking, we've got better pitching all around.

Major League Baseball's All-Star game has earned its lowest-ever television rating.
The National League's 3-1 victory Tuesday night on Fox earned a 7.5 fast national rating and 13 share. That's down 16 percent from the 8.9/15 for last season's game, a 4-3 win by the AL.
Testing will be limited to players with minor-league contracts because they are not members of the players' association,
which means that blood testing is not subject to collective bargaining.
Wow Garg. I just read a little about the Brew Crew. They stink!

It was also a masochistic outing for the ages as Wolf allowed 12 earned runs and 13 hits, yet stuck around for 5 2/3 innings so the gassed Brewers bullpen could be given some relief in a 15-3 victory by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
And Wolf's results against the Bucs put him on a bad list all by himself. If my Baseball-Reference query is right, it's only the second time since the 1950 season that a starting pitcher has gone that deep into a game and given up that many earned runs.
The previous guinea pig was Milwaukee's Bill Travers, who allowed 14 runs and 18 hits (ouch) over 7 2/3 innings in the second game of a doubleheader against the Indians in July 1977.
Anything for the team, right Randy?

Just when we get the Suppan albatross off our necks, we sign Wolf to a three-year deal.
SWEET!

It's a rare occurrence when a player has two pinch-hitting appearances in a single game. This may be the only occasion where two pinch-hitters had two appearances in a game, and both in the same inning.
