@joefromchicago,

i think mora & spilborgh had to be position players for their 2nd at-bat, no?

@joefromchicago,
I think that they neither one wanted to be the guy to make 2 outs in an inning...

Nope, they're both credited with two pinch-hitting appearances apiece. Spilborghs went in to play right field in the top of the ninth, but Mora pinch hit for the pitcher -- it's not like he got credit for a pitching appearance.

@Gargamel,
regarding Bill Hall, Garg wrote:

Sure, he's great defensively. His transition from 3rd to center in '08 was almost seamless. But he already has about 50 Ks this year--in 150 at bats or so. The guy whiffs a ton. And his average has steadily declined over the last four years. .230 sounds about right. Good to have on the bench, to put in late in games, maybe, but not as a regular contributor.
nice game last night in Tranna -- 3 for 5, 2 dingers, 4 ribs.
the average is "up" to .247.
he does strike out way too much... but he's been an excellent fill-in for pedroia, who will be back next week...

meanwhile, wazzop with K-Rod??

@Region Philbis,
Yeah, I saw his line last night! He really is putting together a solid season after all. He head a reputation in Milwaukee as the most athletic guy on the team, not just with respect to baseball. Not surprising, considering he can play 2nd, 3rd, and OF.

he's also played SS, and pitched a mop-up 1-2-3 inning.
i think he was even the emergency catcher when varitek first got injured.

after watching him for 2/3rds of sseason, i am a fan...

@Region Philbis,
I'm wishing I'd kept Wagner on my Fantasy team ... trading for Broxton seemed like a such good idea at the time ....

ok, either yahoo is lying to me, or tony larussa has lost it.

in the middle of a comeback inning, he had a reliever bat with men on base...???

I hope they got it wrong...
