@Ragman,
Too early in the season for that, in my opinion.

It's worth 6 minutes of your time to watch the highlights of this Padres and Pirates game April 30th. This is what makes baseball worth watching. Normally I root for the Padres, but after watching the Pirate's left fielder, I was glad of the outcome.

Weeping for those suffering millionaire players and billionaire owners. How embarrassing it must be when they cash their checks.

Quote:
MLB could be using Robo-Umpires within the next few years

Baseball fans could be seeing robot umpires calling the shots sometime soon. Commissioner
Rob Manfred revealed to ESPN that he wants to introduce robo-umpires to the MLB by 2024.

Manfred offered two possibilities for how robo-umpires would function during baseball games.
The first is that the robo-umpires would serve as an automated system, calling each pitch and
communicating balls and strikes to human umpires via an earpiece. A second option would be
for robo-umpires to work as a review and replay system of balls and strikes that lets managers
challenge calls.

The move arrives amid calls by some MLB fans who were unhappy with umpires over the past
season. Manfred, however, “ insists the adaptation of robo-umpires should not be seen as an
indictment of [umpires’] abilities,” according to ESPN.

The robo-umpire system is already being tested in minor leagues and has reduced game times
by an average of nine minutes, per MLB data.

Pujols becomes only the fourth player ever to hit 700 dingers.

and he's most likely the last... at least in our lifetime...

@joefromchicago,
For everyone:
Except for Cleveland we are getting nothing but surprises in the MLB playoffs. Do you think that this will continue?

A local businessman has bet $10 million on the Astros to win it all.

@edgarblythe,
Hopefully, they’re donating double that amount to a worthy charity.

On a different note, Alvarez’s HR was pretty amazing!

@Ragman,
That HR was amazing. No less amazing was the bullpen that kept the game from getting totally out of hand until that moment could occur.

As for the businessman, I've written about him before. He organized some help for Florida not many days back.

Some fans are still holding on to the past over the Astros stealing signs. I could see it if the team had went into a long term slump, post scandal. But they are winners even still. It's obvious they don't need it to win. I'm hoping they win it all this year and continue to do so for many years to come.
