@cicerone imposter,
Baseball has become my sport of choice, with basketball second. There is too much going on with football for me to keep up an interest. Not the kneeling or not aspect. But, the concussions and the militarization of everything. It looks to me like other teams deliberately seek to inflict game or even season ending injuries on certain players.

@Region Philbis,
Looks like Tanaka is losing his touch. His W/L averages are looking pretty close.

@Region Philbis,
I used to criticize the Astros, because they were so quiet. I accused the owner of just being content to make some money off of his team, without developing a winning combination. Somebody explained to me that they were building from the ground up, to get an organization with staying power, instead of a one season streak. Looks like it's paying off.

The Astros last reached the league championship series in 2005 as a National League team, and were swept in the World Series by the White Sox.

You just described most of the pitching rotation for the Yankees.

@edgarblythe,

they apparently need "a new voice in the clubhouse and a fresh public face".

despite the back-to-back AL east crowns, Farrell has been roasted in the media
for poor decision-making -- particularly with the pitching staff...

Quote:
Farrell also became a punching bag for frustrated fans and talk-radio chatterboxes. While all managers
get second-guessed for in-game moves that don't pan out, Farrell came under greater scrutiny than many.
Conspiracy theorists maintain that he would have gotten fired in 2015 had he not missed the final six weeks
of the season to undergo cancer treatment.

@edgarblythe,
Fired for not being perfect, apparently. In RedSoxNation, you're only as good as your last Series Championship

I don't think anybody expected the Yanks to put up much fight. But this could be a tough one for Cleveland.

If the Yankees beat the Dodgers in the world series would they be the first to knock out three 100-win teams in the playoffs?

I'm really looking forward to Friday. The Astros and Yankees are my two favorite teams. This is the closest they will ever come to a world series faceoff. No predictions from me.

Looks like it.

I checked baseball reference.

The red Sox beat two 100-win teams in 2004.
