@farmerman,
If I remember, I'm going to point out some of the spots where the Canadian Shield is exposed right by the 401 east of Kingston.

I wish we had enough time to hit some of the geological high spots of southern Ontario.

mebbe we can hit this sometime on the 23rd. It's only a few minutes from home.

We will be in the wet part of Canada then. (Hopefully).

Wet part? Canada? Aren't you repeating yourself?

Happily, the 23rd works perfectly for me, and I’d be delighted to join you wherever you are Very Happy

Likewise! Very Happy

no money for a trip right now, and possibly going to be on the island at that time (or possibly tai chi and bil will be down this way), but will keep an eye on the developments in this thread

Sorry to hear it! If you find a way to make it anyway, that would be wonderful though.

EhBeth, thanks for the briefs on Canda's geography and its A2Kers. Somehow I never was aware how many there are. Perhaps we could make a Sunday afternoon trip to Klondike and back, visit Mame? That's in Canada too, right?

@Joeblow,
Joeby - have you got any preferences as to area of town or type of whatever?

(that dang garbage strike better be over!)

@ehBeth,
Mmhmm. Hard to say with that still unresolved, but I can say I think I’m game for anything. It sounds like you’ve an ambitious couple days before that…maybe something low key?

I’ve never taken the Hop on Hop off, which might be fun… I liked the ROM and the restaurant upstairs there (C5), and/or I would love to tour the AGO, which is supposed to be spectacular. I’d be just as happy with burgers and beer. Billiards. Music. Tea and sweets. Beach and boardwalk.

Or, subway to the Klondike to see Mame.

@farmerman,
Subway to the Klondike to catch up with Mame. Sounds good.

With all the men they've got up there, there have got to be a bunch of pool halls.

Beer/burgers/billiards could definitely work for me after the whole Ex experience. Or beach/beer and burgers?

@ehBeth,
Something like that sounds great.

I'm content with nailing down particulars a little closer to the date - depends on weather etc I guess.

@ehBeth,
here is the CORK schedule .
will you be floating on an air-mattress ?
most of the competions will be quite a bit off-shore , but there are dinghy competions near shore ... but we'll need wind .

Please keep the thread updated on your plans. Don't yet know what the chances are that we'll be back "south" by the 23rd, but who knows? A chance to meet the Toronto group AND Thomas! That would be great.

@Tai Chi,
dozens of sailors and their boats are allready out on lake ontario - a very nice display of different coloured sails .
they all want one thing : JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF WIND - blowing steadily , if possible .
