IT BLOWS MY MIND THAT MY FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS CAN THINK SO DIFFERENTLY THAN I DO.

I thought (thawt) that all humans shared some bare minimum of agreement,
be thay conservative, liberal, commie, nazi or something else.
As a species, we share the same DNA.

I saw a promo on TV of a Russian immigrant who applies water to his face taken from a toilet
(obviously, its really a CLEAN one, never used, but its not represented as such).
The immigrant went on to smooch a woman (who accepted it) whom he identified as his sister, suggesting incest.
This promo, the same as all promos, was to invite attention to the movie that it was promoting;
i.e., to make it look good, attractive. This was purportedly a comedy movie.

I just don't understand how attacking the elementary principles of hygene and of DECENCY
is calculated to gain approval and a larger audience,
presumably for more of the same kind of thing?

How can this BE ?

This is not only deviating liberally; it deviates radically from decency,
for the sake of obtaining approval.

This suggests to me that on Earth, we have 2 radically (meaning "from the root") different mind sets
of conservative and liberal, like mirror-image opposites of good and evil.

Does this suggest a 100% rejection by each side
of the other side's point of vu? Do we have NO commonality of opinion at ALL?

Does this indicate a COMPLETE yin - yang, debit - credit rejection
of the essence and entirety of one another 's mental being?

If we here on Earth who share DNA are so radically different,
then it defies comprehension to imagine how life elsewhere in the universe,
with no DNA or with very different DNA, can opine and organize its culture.

What I can't comprehend is how you ascribe the liberal label to everything that offends your sensibilities, as if conservatives can think or do no wrong.

I ABSOLUTELY don 't mean that conservatives can think or do no wrong.
Please accept my assurance of that.

It is impossible for liberalism to exist in the absence of DEVIATION
from SOMETHING.

The point that I am trying to raise
is radical DEVIATION from one another 's mind set.

In furtherance of this point of vu (in my opinion, perverted)
is a cooking show in which fine and beautiful food is skillfully, artisticly prepared
and then foul elements are added to ruin it
so that no one can enjoy it.

I can 't understand this.
Y woud anyone THINK that way,
and Y wound anyone pay money to watch this ?

Maybe in an anti-matter universe ?

Of course liberalism can exist in the absence of something to deviate from. If all the conservatives were raptured today and went to heaven (tho of course the evidence points to them going the other way), liberalism weould continue perfectly fine. It is, after all, a set of beliefs and neither we nor the world at large need to have you guys to contrast with.

It's nothing to do with accepting or not accepting the elementary principles of hygiene and decency - (sometimes you take things very literally David - I think that's one of your comedic methods)- and it's everything to do with the shock value of incongruity in a situation.

The last thing anyone expects anyone to do with water from a toilet is wash his or her face with it. So when something like that happens - the initial reaction is shock. Some people laugh when they're shocked or surprised - other people can see it coming - are not shocked - and are just disgusted.
For myself - if I saw that on a tv show - I'd turn away say, yuk - and change the channel.

I don't think it has to do so much with whether anyone's liberal or conservative as much as it has to do with intelligence (and no - I will NOT accept that conservatives are more intelligent than liberals David- see- I could see that coming).

the answer David is that you don't have enough knowledge of nor respect for that part of us that is not nice. In the same way that you are drawn to what was once called sin we are also drawn the muck and filth that is part of the human condition. Some of us embrace the dark side of our nature, because we have learned that letting some of the darkness with in us live is better in the long run than repressing it is.

I think it's really odd that you think there are only two kinds of humans. I suppose you think that so you can easily jump over the dividing line into the group which you deem to be, what was it?, clean, honest and good.

There are billions of humans, David, most of them, the vast majority, are, on occasion, a little dirty, a little shifty and a bit naughty. We will try not to surprise you on an evening when you are all three.

Obviously, I must AGREE with u that there are indeed more than 2 kinds.
I accept blame for my failure to have been more clear on that point.

I meant that there was a 100% radical mental difference
between people who are ATTRACTED by an ad
of a man intentionally taking water from a toilet to put on his face
and
those of us whose sensibilities are deeply offended.

We know for a FACT that humans are only one species,
but this is as if to show that we were fundamentally different animals.
In other words, Joe, my question is:
how in the world, can the self-same DNA be manifested with such EXTREME differences ?

If, in the future, we invented a way to read the mind of a pig,
and found that he LIKES this use of toilet water, then maybe
we 'd not be too surprized, because pigs are known to be dirty,
but we expect more basic similarity among our own kind.

It's Art. Art doesn't have to make any sense, it's just has to yank your chain, for better for worse. Kinda like the various Trolls we have on A2K.
