I just received my surgical packet, with all my appointments, etc. from the Cleveland Clinic. Makes the whole thing a lot more real.

@Phoenix32890,
Apprehension is certainly normal and we can all say you don't have to worry but it's something I'm sure you're going to be able to handle it with little problem.

@Lightwizard,
In the last few hours, I have bought my plane tickets, and made my hotel arrangements. I think that when person is busy with the mundane details, the anxiety is pushed aside.

@Phoenix32890,
Yep... keeping busy and distracted is good Phoenix. Focus on the positives of going ...

away for a few days, things to see, places to go, deal with it all head on and be in control of the details of how to get there, what to do, whom to see and what you'll say.

You're bound to be noivous. Just need to try and keep control of the emotions and anxieties as best you can.

Izzie & Roberta- I am focusing on the adventure of it all. I have never been to Cleveland. I have never had open heart surgery. This opens up a lot of possibilities. I will be leaving on Saturday, so we will have Sunday to see the city. I am strong, but I do have my moments.

Last night I was getting a bit jittery. I think it had more to do with the fact that Mr. P. has his own medical issues, and I am concerned that something untoward will happen between now and the time that I have to go.

He really does not like to fly. He wanted to drive, but I told him that even though we could share the driving going up, he would have to do it himself coming back. I think that that reality convinced him, although he is still not happy about flying.

Well, today is the day that I fly to Cleveland. Mr. P. has been his usual darling passive aggressive self. For a time, I thought that he would never get packed................but he did.

I have my appointments with the cardio, the surgeon, and the pre-surgical testing on Monday. If the docs agree, I will have my operation on Wednesday, July 1st.

So the adventure begins!!!

@Phoenix32890,
Oh my goodness. The day has arrived! (Well, to travel anyway.)

Best of luck Phoenix!

When can we expect to hear from you? I'm assuming NOT right away, but just want to prepare so I don't worry.

I guess Mr. P has a fear of flying but also a fear of internet posting? Although, I don't think Phoenix owned a laptop (most hotels have a high speed internet connection).

Has Mr. P ever posted on a forum like this? Until recently, Mr. F wouldn't have known how though I think he could now. Would he think to do so if something should happen to me? I doubt it.

But hoping we do get good news re Phoenix soon. We'll probably have to wait until she can provide it herself though.
