@rosborne979,
I never thought about a vast goveernment cosnpiracy. Ill bet thats why theyve been shipping all these quesa e porco burritos over the border to Mexico.
TAco Bell is a govt front !!.
Glaxo Welkom is in it too.
THE TERRORISTS WON!!.
Its the end of the world as we know it.
Maybe it was a natural occurance. You still can't take away from the possibility that the government made it. Amazing that the same flu pops up in different continents within weeks, and all of a sudden there's a vaccination for it. But, it still could be a natural occurance, I'm not going to take away from that. I'm just saying, you never know.
@Ferostie,
It's obviously a government conspiracy. The flu virus couldn't have possible traveled from one continent to another if governments hadn't conspired to let people travel by plane.
I guess that means we can blame it all on Orville and Wilbur Wright. or maybe we should blame it on the French guy that claimed to have discovered flight before the bros did.
There isn't a vaccination for it. There is a treatment for it. It is a virus after all and viruses can be treated if they have similar characteristics to other viruses that can be treated.
Gads, this thread is funny!
I agree we should all freak out immediately and run away screaming.
After all our own government is trying to kill us. (They decided they don't need our pesky tax dollars after all.)
Boris, however, seems rather disinclined to get up, much less go anywhere.
@BorisKitten,
now youve got the proper sense of gravitas. This is serious and no attempt at downplaying any "weve got a cure" crap is gonna stop me from packing. Now if the first case in Toronto shows up, we're fucked.
@farmerman,
Jeez, there's actually an ad for a "Pandemic Food Reserve" just below your post!
Boris, wake up! We have to panic, now!
(Still not moving.)
@BorisKitten,
I knew I should have gone out and stocked up on guns when Obama was elected.
Now I am just going to have to wait til my neighbor gets the flu so I can "borrow" his guns.
I promise I'll return them to him during the rapture.
@BorisKitten,
The "coast to coast" foilheads show has been advertising survival garden seeds . Like if theres Armegeddon outside, I dont think Im gonna be planting a garden.
@parados,
I have heard that guns are a proven cure for the flu.
@BorisKitten,
a. No point panicking, it won't help.
b. No point fleeing, it's already on an aircraft near there, too.
c. Nobody gets out of life alive anyway.
d. IF it's your arse this time, kiss it goodbye with some GRACE, goddammit!!! Nobody wants to have to say at your funeral "His/her flu got him/her in the back as s/he fled." That's just humiliating!
@dlowan,
easy for you to say, you live in that godforsaken piece of desert island where every serpent and jellyfish is an agent of satans bidding.

All victims should be armed.
@farmerman,
Nonsense.
They don't fly through the air and attach themselves to every tap and door-handle.

You think that's funny, but who's willing to bet the gun nuts don't have a conspiracy theory and some goddam libruls to shoot before the day is out?
OMG..
One of the symptoms of the flu seems to be you no longer see pictures next to the names of posters on A2K.
Swine flu? It's hamster flu and we are all infected.
@parados,
Well, we see that pic from Australia with myxomatosis all the years without doing any harm to all/most ...
I changed my major to bacteriology after reading the least approved book by Sinclair Lewis, Arrowsmith, in a timely manner, that is, in the summer when I had to make up my mind. (I was better in english and psych, more drawn to science, though not so snappy at it). So, I was career breast fed on sturm and drang of epidemiology and pros and cons of that, back then. Science has moved on since I paid close attention, but some issue remain the same re the purview of the state and the matter(s) of panic, and matters of privacy.
Eighty deaths in x time, or however many it is now in the environs of Mexico City, are serious - even though it is a very large city - but mutation in the panoply of viruses may be happening.
I'm glad I'm not in any position to postulate on this scientifically. I do see even the least scary scenario as a breeding ground for weirdo enthusiasms crawling out of the woodwork.
I heard that the number of cases in the US doubled in 2 days. From 20 to 40. Does the flu only increase in even numbers?
@dlowan,
No, they lie in wait on your windshield, and you can't tell if they're inside or out.
@roger,
I fail to understand how a country with grizzly bears and other marauding bears, black widows, brown recluses, rattle-snakes, mountain lions, wolves, Cheneys and millions of crazed people with assault rifles killing each otheer in schools and malls think a few little snakes and such which mind their own business in the bush unless stepped on are scary!
