@ossobuco,
What is a bay heron, anyway? Any heron that hangs around various bays? P.S., I really like that photo, by techguy.org.

@ossobuco,
Hello Ossobuco. A bay Heron is a fictious name I thought of for my first fantasy team last year.

The Great Blue Heron is plentiful in my region. I even get them occassionally in my backyards.....and they often can be found in the bays surrounding my area. hence the name The Bay Herons.

I think I suffered from the Premiata Effect (tm).

That is to say that every team going against the Premiata Forneria M. will be having a bad week. At least that is the trend so far.

Hmmmph. A heron is just a bird. They don't even have their own calendar.

Hooters do:

@alex240101,
I had a pond-in-a-pot back in Venice, that is, an almost three foot round and tall, somewhat fancy, concrete pot with stones, water, water hyacinths, mosquito fish, and gold fish, with a simple fountain jet. I looked out the kitchen window one day to see a great blue heron perched on the rim... instead of chasing him or her away, I got a great photo.. (but where is it now?)

@Foxfyre,
But do owls hang around bays?

Back in north north (humboldt county), I used to often see snowy egrets and occasional great blues anext Arcata Bay on my way to the good grocery store in the next town north.

@ossobuco,
Don't know about bays, but I've seen a western Screech Owl flying over Big Sur and a friend who used to live on the Connecticutt coast used to report seeing Snowy Owls flying over the beach. (Due to my reputation as an 'owl lady', friends are inspired to notify me of owl sightings.)

So since owls are found pretty much everywhere, I would imagine some would hang around the bays.

I just hope the owls have it together enough to whomp the Bay Herons just enough to win this week.

@Foxfyre,
Yeh, I was being silly re owls and bays. But wait, they don't usually do the wading maneuver..

@ossobuco,
That's probably right. I don't recall ever seeing an owl IN the water anywhere. But then you don't play baseball in the rain anyway. . . .so. . . .

Wait. There is an owl called a Fish Owl that does I believe wade into water...whether salt water or fresh water I can't recall. There was some dispute whether these were truly owls, but I think they decided they were.

I also forgot that screech owls and perhaps some others will frequent a bird bath and will bathe from time to time.

But most owls I think don't go into the water.

Not a lot of games tonight, but a number of them PPD. If you have any SP, adjust your schedules for Tuesday.
