I just realized I messed up. ElStud's birthday is tomorrow, not today. Oh well, leftovers are good too.

@jespah,
You also have a baby squid (or would he be a teenager by now) and you throw some strange parties.

Huh? That last post went over my head here on baseball.
Anyway, here in Cville it has been a dreary day with steady light rain. I took the time to send an email to Yahoo asking about the Caught Stealing and Blown Save categories where if we have one of those negatives, we seem to be getting a positive point in our match-ups.
I mentioned that our league commissioner is not the brightest light bulb in the room, so maybe this was an issue specific to our game.
A mere 2 hours later I got a reply from "Marshall" at Yahoo. I paraphrase from his 4 paragraphs:
Your commissioner is not at fault. We apologize for scoring these negative stats incorrectly. Yahoo Engineering is aware of the issue and is working on correcting it.

I am impressed with their response.

@realjohnboy,
But we like our commissioner, even if he smokes those cigars..

It's been a little aggravating. I have two CS's and have to always remember to add them on to Skoalmen's total and subtract from my own... and you know how hard that is for me. I did notice the tabulation improved overnight and then went back to screwed up today. Well, we can hope, and thanks for asking Yahoots.

@ossobuco,
As a total aside, folks, as a total diversion from baseball:
Osso/Jo...Did you see the winning design for the African-American Museum on the DC Mall? I think it is awful. It looks like a parking garage topped by two levels of shopping center glitz.
Perhaps you could post a picture here.

@realjohnboy,
I could, I will.

Don't get me going on the Mall. The mall is getting cluttered, and I include in that the last couple of abominations, including the underground horridity, in the mall's continuing revision. I suppose I should start a thread, as I've some links accumulated on mall plans, and think I posted a thread here a year or two ago where people could propose their own ideas. (I didn't participate in that either).

Many of the mall building efforts of the past have run into burrs, as many of us know...
Projecting to the future, I imagine a lot of museums people would and could be interested in.. say over the next 150 years. Spread the wealth, knock down some vacant shopping malls, build new park/museum campus, distribute the tourists, lower the amount of tramping on one bunch of grass. (I told you, don't get me going...)

Anyway, off for some arch-y links on the new museum.

@ossobuco,
I'll be back with a few links, but try not to stuff this baseball thread with all that.
Just a photo as a kind of bunt, when I find it.
And a memory, walking with my husband in the Mall around midnight in May. That was 1987. Gorgeous night. The memorials lit. Walking through the grass sort of like snowshoeing/loping. Long walk back and forth, and a 2 a.m. breakfast at the tacky Holiday Inn across from the Watergate.

That's right! The teenaged squid! Sounds like a film: I Was a Teenaged Squid. No one will be seated during the gripping tentacle unveiling scene.

@mysteryman,
Mookie's off at boarding school in Tasmania. Or maybe Poland. Or Tanzania. I'm unsure. It has a T in it, or maybe a P. I should call and ask.

@realjohnboy,
Yes, thanks. I've been watching to see if he would be able to play at all--they were talking about him being the DH in which case I would leave him in. But it looks like they went ahead and sidelined him for now.

@Foxfyre,
Forgive me if I came across as micro-managing your team. I want to see the Fireman and Fbaezer stopped. I wasn't sure you were aware that you could put guys who were declared DL or NA on the DL list on your roster and bring in a couple of new guys for awhile. By my reckoning, you are going to win the week.

@realjohnboy,
You're kidding. Me? I thought I was in the middle of the pack. I thought I had MM earlier, but he caught me yesterday and the day isn't over yet. I am gradually watching the spread narrow between Fbaezer and the rest of us though but it has been one of those s-l-o-w-l-y..... w-e..... t-u-r-n,..... s-t-e-p..... b-y ..... s-t-e-p things.

And no sir, you were not coming across as micro-managing or any other managing of my team. I appreciated the heads up and will appreciate any others sent my way as I could likely forget to look from time to time.

The season is early, but it appears I have managed to draft the worst group of hitters in Major League Baseball.
