Last year I did not get a birthday cake (not sure about the prior year or not). And then again this year no one thought to get me a birthday cake. So a few days after my birthday, I decided, what the h*ll I’ll buy one for myself. No one sang happy birthday to me when I brought it out so I sang happy birthday to me.
Now granted " in my family’s defense, we were on vacation. I did get a present from Disney when we entered the park " a $75 gift card (part of their 2009 promotion in lieu of free admission as we already had a hopper pass). But no card, no cake from my husband and kids.
Are all moms forgotten when it comes to stuff like this?
@Linkat,
oh Linkat.... that's just pants. When was your birthday hun?
It's good to see you back here. x
@Linkat,
Yep - I haven't had a birthday in years....I actually prefer it that way though! I try to play it down. But I do treat myself by going out and indulging in something...
Birthday cake is so good! Happy belated Birthda Linkat!
@Linkat,
No, it's just the curse put on us moms to remember stuff like that and apparently kids and husbands are exempt since they can count on us.
I look at it as my penance for forgetting important stuff myself.
But happy birthday Linkat whenever it was.
@mismi,
<talking of which young Mis... I've been here a year and didn't throw a deck party for ya.... SPILL GIRLIE!!!!!!>
@Linkat,
Mr B is WONDERFUL when it comes to remembering my birthday. He makes dinner reservations at the restaurant of my choice, makes sure the girls are reminded well enough in advance to do some gift shopping and to keep their calendar clear for dinner out. He's also been known to make a homemade cake or two.
He's a keeper!
Edit --- happy delayed birthday, Linkat!
@Linkat,
Ok! OK! Now quit yer bitchen!
BBB
@BumbleBeeBoogie,
That's a big cake BBB -
JPB - Mr. B sounds like a keeper to be sure!
Now, now Izzie - I'm not that young.
@JPB,
Funny thing is my husband is an expert with dates - remembers them all - he remembers the day we met! For me I am terrible with dates - but keep them in a calendar so I won't miss them.
He just isn't so good at recognizing them in a sense. For example when we got up, he did say Happy Birthday right away! He just doesn't do much about it.
Well, Linkat, I always wanted to share a birthday thread with you. We have mentioned to each other that we were both born on New Year's Day. (I'll just take BBB's cake and leave the rest of the thread to you.)
Belated happy birthdya to Linkat and Wandel!
@wandeljw,
yep- great minds think alike and are born alike.
Happy Birthday, linkat. I think it stinks that your family doesn't remember your birthday. Maybe you need to remind them by not remembering theirs.
@eoe,
Ya know - I thought about that!
However, it isn't in my nature and I would feel too damn guilty about it.
And you know - no one patted an eye when I said I bought a birthday cake. My husband actually said - good since you weren't able to get one because we were on vacation.
@Linkat,
Now we know Linkat.... just wait 'til next year!
Special Agent Wandel.... mmmmmmmm..... gonna have quiet words with you hun - you kept that awful low key!!!!!!! Ha - that'll be the last time that happens!
Next year, get your family each this cake on their birthday.
And this is for you!
@Linkat,
A birthday, is a birthday, is a birthday. No matter where, when, and why.
Forgetting a mothers/wife birthday is against the law in some countries.
Happy belated birthday.
