yeah - it is doing well - put it this way- I'm making enough to pay
all my bills and pay a helper and even pay myself a little something,
making a return on my initial investment....and this is the slow season;
it supposedly gets really, really busy after Easter.
It's been really, really fun...I'm making a lot of new friends and feel
that I'm becoming a part of the community. I'm closing for two weeks
at Christmas, as there's a big demand before Christmas when
everyone's out and about shopping, but then after Christmas it
goes kind of quiet because everyone's home with family -
my landlady told me that everyone closes for those two weeks.

= 2 weeks of famine ?

But anyway- I'm already feeling that I'm gonna miss some of the people
I see everyday - some of these people come in twice a day.
They're starting to feel like my family.
But I am looking forward to the rest - I've been working pretty
much ten hour days every day for the past three months.
I'm also looking forward to taking some walks and some pictures.

How's your retirement going?

Fine, thank u. Relaxing

YES! What will they do without their cottage pie and sausage and mash

I'm glad you're relaxing - I'm sure you deserve it.

@djjd62,
Oh hope you will post some more pics DjjD - then maybe msolga and I can get some eggnog and celebrate in the snow with you. Fancy a snowball fight - that shoud be good online a? Your place looks divine. I wish Farmerman would post some pics too and let us see his world (has he done that before...have I missed any). It does sound truly fascinating and I am extrememly naive in worldly ways and traditions.

Well... I did a clean thru today, as best I could, and tomorrow will go and cut some holly from the bushes in the garden and decorate the lounge. Ntural lounge trimming.... berries and greenery. Tulip is coming by with the kids and we are have a pre Christmas evening dinner - the children are going to back Princess Cookies. Might get them making some holly and flower decs too - we have lots of oasis somewhere and pots adn stuff. Christmas tree is looking delightful - and if I could get past the fatigue - we're on to being positive little folk. Was too tired to grasp positivity full throtlle today - but maybe tomorrow.

We had Christmas lunch at school today - the children loved it. S-boy came to scchool and saw all his old school friends. Lovely.

Bit concerned about Foxfyre driving 20 hours - OH MY! HUGE travel, especially with the not so good weather. Glad your business is going well Aidan. Good for you. Don't think you are too far from my world - have a great break over the 2 weeks.

Nearly time for bed msolga - hope you got all you tax stuff sorted and can rest easy girlie. Hugs my friend. x

@djjd62,
Did you get the snowmageddon forecast they gave us in Tranna?

That could definitely change our Christmas plans here.

I hope you don't push yourself too hard, Izzie. You've been through a helluva lot this year (but I don't have to tell you that!) so I don't think anyone would mind if it was a fairly relaxed time. With a relaxed Izzie! Smile

Yep, got the tax stuff done. Thanks for asking. Phew & whoopee! I'm gonna be rich! (Not quite, but the extra $$$ will sure come in handy while I'm not working over January! Very Happy )

@fbaezer,
I haven't heard that Kinks song, fbaezer. But I agree with the sentiments!

(Big Kinks/Ray Davies fan here, btw!)

Given that last Thanksgiving was a little hairy, I am hoping that xmas will go smoother.

Just re-reading bits of this thread I read very quickly before, on the run ....

I have no idea, k, what happened at your Thanksgiving get-together (possibly the usual sorts of things that have bugged you over the years?) but I'm really hoping that Christmas will be a stress-free time for you. Have a good one! Very Happy

Christmas will be at home in California with friends and family. A couple of days later we're off to Mexico City where sons, daughters, spouses & grandkids will gather for a reunion.

Oh you lucky thing, George!

Mexico!

Wonderful!

I'm so jealous!

@ehBeth,
he rods were pretty clear by the afternoon, but they're predicting about another 20 cm of snow mixed with ice pellets and freezing rain through the weekend
